Bobbi Kristina Brown, the only child of late singer Whitney Houston, was moved to hospice care on Wednesday after suffering irreversible brain damage five months ago, and her former boyfriend was hit with a lawsuit alleging physical abuse and theft from her bank account.
Bobbi Kristina, 22, was found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub in her suburban Atlanta home on Jan. 31. The incident had eerie similarities to the 2012 death of her mother.
Bobbi Kristina was placed in a medically induced coma and her family said she was later diagnosed with irreversible brain damage.
A statement issued by the Houston family on Wednesday said that despite great medical care "Bobbi Kristina Brown's condition has continued to deteriorate. As of today, she has been moved into hospice care... She is in God's hands now."
Bobbi Kristina, who inherited her mother's fortune, was found in January by her then boyfriend, Nick Gordon, and a friend.
Gordon was accused in a $10 million lawsuit filed on Wednesday of causing her life-threatening injuries and stealing from her bank account while she was in a coma.
No one has been criminally charged in the case. Randall Kessler, Gordon's attorney, said he had no comment on the lawsuit which was filed in Georgia by Bobbi Kristina's court-appointed conservator.
In the first public account of what is alleged to have happened, the lawsuit claimed that on Jan. 31 Bobbi Kristina had a loud argument with Gordon. When it ended she was found "unresponsive and unconscious, face down in a bathtub, with her mouth swollen and another tooth knocked out."
It said that as a direct result of Gordon's conduct "Brown has suffered life-threatening bodily harm."
Gordon was partly raised by Whitney Houston as an informally adopted son. He later began dating Bobbi Kristina and after the singer's death, the pair referred to each other as husband and wife although they were never legally married.
The lawsuit alleged that Gordon began to beat up Bobbi Kristina and tried to take control of the substantial funds she had inherited from her mother.
"Even after Brown's hospitalization, and while she was in a coma, (Gordon) accessed Brown's bank account and stole in excess of $11,000," the lawsuit added.
Gordon was barred by the family in February from visiting Bobbi Kristina in the hospital.
Bobbi Kristina is the daughter of Whitney Houston and R&B singer Bobby Brown. They divorced when she was 14 after a tempestuous, drug-fueled marriage.
Her Grammy award-winning mother drowned in a Beverly Hills hotel bathtub in February 2012 at the age of 48. In that case, authorities said years of cocaine abuse and heart disease played a key role.

Bobbi Kristina Brown's friend opens up about tragic final months

Bobbi Kristina Brown's confidante has broken her silence about the 22 year old's desperate final months as the daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown clings to life in a Georgia hospice.
Alex Reid tells E! News her dying pal called her three weeks before she was found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub at the Atlanta home she shared with boyfriend Nick Gordon and appeared to be scared and upset.
In her exclusive interview, which will air on TV in America on Wednesday night, Reid claims Bobbi Kristina was hiding from Gordon in her late mother's closet.
She recalls, "She was sobbing. Nick had hit her and she was scared. She was very upset. She didn't know what to do. It was as if she didn't have anyone else to turn to. It was heartbreaking."
Reid explains she has kept her last conversation with Brown to herself until now because she didn't want to betray her friend, but adds, "As she lies there, I feel there is no one else to speak on her behalf. I feel like I have to be a voice for her now."
Brown's California-based friend admits she never witnessed Gordon abusing his girlfriend, but Bobbi Kristina would "FaceTime me every time she was distraught, when something had just happened - or show me a bruise."
Police are still investigating Brown's final hours and Reid believes she can help them fill in some blanks, adding, "There are things that I know that no one else does and I hope that by speaking out I can help the investigation in some way."
She reveals she tried to persuade Bobbi Kristina to leave Gordon on multiple occasions, but says, "It was a desperate love. She felt like she couldn't do anything without him.
"She said she didn't blame Nick, she blamed his temper. It was just that he couldn't control it. She didn't think it was his fault."
And Reid reveals her pal felt there was no one in her family she could turn to as she was no longer close to her dad Bobby and her relationship with Gordon had driven other relatives away.
She adds, "All Bobbi Kristina wanted was to be taken care of, and all everyone seemed to do was the opposite."
Reid's exclusive interview comes a week after Brown's conservator served her boyfriend with legal papers, accusing him of abusing the 22 year old and stealing funds from her bank account while she battled for life following her near-drowning incident in January.
Just hours after her family revealed she had been moved into hospice care on une 24, court-appointed conservator Bedelia C. Hargrove filed a $10 million suit against Gordon in Atlanta's Fulton County Superior Court.
In the documents, Gordon is accused of assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Ailing Bobbi Kristina Brown has been slapped with a lawsuit by a Georgia man who claims he was injured in a car crash three days before her near-drowning incident in January.
Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown's only daughter, 22, was found face down and unresponsive in a bath tub at the Georgia home she shared with boyfriend Nick Gordon. She has been in a medically-induced coma ever since and is now clinging onto life in a Duluth hospice.
But that fact hasn't stopped Russell Eckerman of Marietta from deciding to go forward with a legal battle against her, after filing suit in Fulton County Supreme Court on June 26.
In the legal documents, obtained by local newspaper Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Eckerman claims Brown was speeding on January 27, 2015, when she lost control of her own Jeep, which subsequently swerved into oncoming traffic and collided with his Ford Taurus.
According to the New York Daily News, police investigators determined Brown's right rear tire blew out and that caused the accident.
In his papers, Eckerman claims his vehicle incurred "extensive damage", while he suffered "serious personal injury", and he is seeking US$730,000 in medical bills and damages.
Eckerman has also named Bobbi Kristina's guardians, her father Bobby and aunt Pat Houston, and conservator Bedelia Hargrove in the suit, as well as executives at the Ford Motor Company, alleging the airbag on his Taurus did not deploy properly and the seat belt was defective.

Bobby Brown's extended family blocked from visiting Bobbi Kristina

Bobby Brown's extended family has been banned from visiting his comatose daughter Bobbi Kristina in a Georgia hospice amid reports suggesting one of his relatives is shopping a photo of the 22 year old on her deathbed to media outlets.
The New Edition star's only child with his late ex-wife Whitney Houston has been unconscious ever since a near-drowning incident at her home in January, and she was recently moved from a rehabilitation centre to a hospice after her legal guardians learned there was nothing more doctors could do to help the aspiring actress.
An unnamed member of the Brown family has allegedly been trying to cash in on the youngster's tragedy by taking a sneaky snap of Bobbi Kristina in a coma as she clings to life, and offering up the shot to the highest bidder - but the image has so far yet to be purchased.
Now the relative's ill-advised actions have prompted Bobbi Kristina Brown's estate bosses to banish the extended Brown family from the hospice to prevent similar incidents, according to TMZ.com.
The ban does not affect Bobby Brown, who insists he is "just looking to get justice" and find the person responsible for secretly taking the deathbed photo.
The news of the ban emerges two days after the veteran R&B singer struggled through an Independence Day gig in Atlanta, just miles away from where his daughter continues to fight for her life.

Bobbi Kristina Brown's boyfriend served with $10 million lawsuit

Bobbi Kristina Brown's boyfriend Nick Gordon has officially been served with legal papers in a $10 million lawsuit accusing him of abusing Whitney Houston's daughter and stealing funds from the ailing youngster's bank account.
Houston's only child with ex-husband Bobby Brown has been fighting for her life since January, when she was found face down and unresponsive in a bath tub at the Georgia home she shared with Gordon.
She was subsequetly placed in a medically-induced coma and was recently transferred to a hospice after doctors revealed there was nothing more they could do for the 22 year old.
Brown's court-appointed conservator, Bedelia C. Hargrove, launched legal action against Gordon last month (Jun15), and on Sunday (12Jul15), he was personally handed the papers by a court server while out and about in Longwood, Florida.
The incident was caught on camera, and in video footage obtained by the New York Daily News, a clueless Gordon accepted the manilla envelope as he left a Starbucks coffee shop.
Asked what the envelope is by a bystander, Gordon responds, "I have no idea."
In the lawsuit, filed in Atlanta's Fulton County Superior Court, Hargrove accuses Gordon of assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The papers also allege Gordon transferred money from his girlfriend's account without her permission while she was comatose in an Atlanta-area hospital.
Gordon has yet to respond to the lawsuit.
