To be honest she might have been one of the harder working Target employee. To my standard she is lazy. But I grew up learning to work like a horse.

I'm much more careful now with age not to put anyone to shame. I've had to learn the hard way that other employees hate anyone who makes them look small.

coldstream, you are making no sense. I'm sorry. I presume the "positive aspects" of Western civilisation you attribute to Christianity are such things as participatory democracy, the rule of law, literacy, education, &c?

Well, the very same people who set those up slaughtered Indians, enslaved blacks, brutalised women, and justified it all in the name of God.

I'm sorry, I believe you are a pretty good person, your hatred which you deny is hatred of gays notwithstanding. But you have fallen into the trap of taking credit for the good things and self-absolving of the bad. Not unlike how so many Christians say we must thank God for the good things in our lives, but cannot blame God for the bad things.

I thought i made myself clear in previous posts. I made no claim that by way of its Christian origins Western Civilization is perfect. It is not. Like all human organizations it is riddled with contradictions, pretense, frailties and cruelty. That includes the Catholic Church (but not the archetype to which it strives to conform in the Mystical Body of Christ).

I did state that the ideal of Christian civilization is unique, and markedly different and incompatable with that of Islam and that all of its institutions in some ways reflect that ideal, however imperfectly. But that makes all the difference and that is at the core of the positive accomplishments of the West. ALL of which are now being compromised by its rejection of that fundamental cast.

BTW i don't hate 'gays'. I don't even believe there are 'gays'. There are just those duped into thinking homosexuality forms some kind of an integral part their character and nature, with the encouragement of the modern post-structural ethos. It does not. But the acceptance of that delusion will inevitably lead to isolation and misery. I have a far more constructive view of 'gay's' potential and responsibilty than there so called 'friends'.

One of the great deceptions of the modern era is that EVERYTHING is transient, relative, defined by its material and temporal contexts. Therefor there are no absolute or eternal Truths, merely accepted social norms and conventions. But yes, the transcendent Truths of 1300 apply to muddled modern consciences as well. No time machine required, just a little reason and faith.
