This is absolutely no justification for treating women like this.
Even visitors are put to death if they do not comply.

Don't talk to me about culture - this is about women's basic freedoms. Here is the full URL: http://www.dallasnews.com/s/dws/news/dmn/stories/072805dnintbasraopposition.176cfb62.html

I will reply to myself then. No one will touch this with a ten foot pole because this is a huge issue that cannot be defended.

I say - Rise up sisters of the Middle East - free yourselves from the bindings of heathenism. You are as good as any man - show them. Stand tall and unafraid, and stand together.

Did it ever occur to that people aren't responding because by your choice of words and photograph, you've made it appear that women must wear a burka when the story says that they are being told to wear hijabs (head scarves).

Did it occur to you that women were not forced to do even that before the illegal invasion and the sham elections that followed? The article points out that even liquor stores were allowed. Clearly this violation of rights started after the invasion.

Did it occur to you that saying, "Even visitors are put to death if they do not comply," is far less than honest when the link you supplied says,
Violators would receive a verbal warning, followed by some form of physical punishment if the behavior persisted. Then death.

First of all, it says violators, not visitors. Second of all those violators will first be given a verbal warning, then some sort of physical punishment. The death penalty is for a third offense.

While I don't agree with the laws or the penalties that are being instituted, I think it's ridiculous that you would misrepresent things the way you did, then complain that nobody bothered to respond to you.

I did not use any words to describe the dressing. You made that up. The photograph speaks for itself. And its origin is as pristine as it gets.

Do you know anyone who has been in Iraq? I do. Women are made to walk behind their husbands and not engage in public conversation. WHAT? Once a friend of mine forgot, and she was struck by a stick from a police/type person. She gave birth without her husband present in positively wretched conditions.
Men are not allowed in the maternity ward, such as it is.

How is it that Iraqis insist on visitors adopting their ways? We certainly don't require that they have three chances to become Canadian, or they die. Get real.

You still haven't passed that wallet, have you? Take some Ex-lax.
