Four people have been injured - with two taken to hospital - after a fire devastated a tower block in Dagenham, east London.

Work was ongoing in the building to remove "non-compliant" cladding.

In 2017, 72 people were killed in a fire in London's Grenfell Tower after it spread rapidly due to flammable cladding.

Meanwhile, a fire broke out in an apartment in a skyscraper in Blackwall, east London.

Half of a flat and balcony on the 25th floor of a 45-storey building was alight on Biscayne Avenue.

Nobody was killed on a day in which two fires broke out in high rise buildings in the metropolis.

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters tackles the blaze, according to the London Fire Brigade, which was first called at 1.28pm.
