NFL cheerleaders are most definitely sexist.

That being said, the form of sexism that dictates women jump around in skimpy outfits, seems much less detrimental than the form of sexism that dictates that men should smash into one another in physical competition until they've destroyed their bodies.

I guess I am missing something, but the only thing I feel when I look at cheerleaders is embarrassment.

the sport is almost always for men athletes participating in a game of some sort.

the females jump around doing simple little girl dances, with big pom poms in their hands, and
when the cameras are on them they stand and, with fake smiles on their faces jiggle those
pom poms around the whole time they are on camera.

to me it seems so demeaning, why aren't they doing something for themselves.

I watch the cfl games and always see the cheerleaders on camera doing exactly the same thing, those
poms poms are so important to them, just like they would be a little girl about 5 years old.

sorry if i'm offending anyone, but none of my daughters would have been a cheerleader, they played
top level sports, and I never ever saw a cheerleader jumping around for them, I wonder why.

why weren't there men jumping around in some kind of outfit, with poms poms or whatever when females
play sports, and when females are playing sports I mostly hear men talking about the athletes breasts and
the butts and whatever else they can amuse themselves, but not about their ability in the sport.

what is the point of cheer leaders, why are they there, and what do they want.

OK, let me have it, i'm ready.

Your ignorance is not worth responding to beyond this.

I will also lay odds you didn't read the article.

I would think earning on a spot on a pro sports cheerleading team is a proud accomplishment. They are athletic, skilled dancers and not hard to look at. They get a darn good view of the games, participate "inside the ropes" at events, and probably have a lot of fun.

i've seen the 'acts' put together on the 'top' pro teams cheerleaders, and I know they are
probably also part of other entertainment groups and entertain in many functions, those are
high end dancers and cheer leading is just one of their gigs, and thats OK, I wasn't really
referring to them.

do you know what the cfl cheerleaders do 'other' with/for the team other than jump around jiggling
those silly poms poms, because that is all I see, and when the cameras are on them they just
look goofy and immature and airheaded.
If I had a total picture of their position with the team other than what I see maybe I could have
a more open mind.

of course they aren't hard to look at, any female who could outdance any of them, but wasn't good
to look at would never get the job.

The NFL is being pounded on all side these days the team names
are under attack and now this Alright it may be sexist but women
have the right to make up their own mind as to whether they want
to participate. No one forces them to do this.
They are working hard to destroy Christmas and Halloween so why
not attack the concept of cheerleaders.

I don't think they're sexist. I've never heard any of them making misandrist comments.
