I have been watching an interseting film about Southern Appalachia and it's history, people, culture, etc, that is very interesting. What sets it apart from other films/books/etc that I've seen about Appalachia is the fact that it isn't prejudiced or discriminating towards the people.
While I'm not sure if PBS has any t.v. stations in Canada that will make it available for those intersted in seeing it,, it also comes in a 3 part dvd/ a book/ and a cd (for the music that accompanies the film).

Enjoy, I did.

I like Austin City Limits. I've decided to buy a few albums based on bands I've seen on that show.

My favourite shows on PBS are Scientific American and Nova though. Well put together and informative.

I was hoping Martin the Acadian would respon to this post as well (not that you all have disappointed me :) -except for the first lame brain). We had a couple of posts about him enjoying a trip to the mountains and I knew he'd want to see the show.

I haven't heard from him since after.... I think it was Spring Break. I came back to the board to check what posts I had missed and observed a post where some exceptionally good-hearted human  called him a traitor because he moved to the States. I guess he didn't have the time or the good health to deal w/ crap like that. I was hoping he might still look around on occasion and see my post. Oh well.

So how goes it rev, is everything chillin up there in Can.?

Chillin'? It's colder than a witch's tit. I was going to go collect my walking tractor today, but there was snow on the ground when I woke up. I just lay down on the chesterfield and pulled a couple of dogs on top of me instead.
