Well, I do know for a fact that it is not going to be within the 2 years... Just out of the blue...

Well, another question..

Why won't Canada import those fancy handsets from other countries? It always leaves me as the big :?: ... Is it just because they want uniquness? or being unopen to the cell phone market? Service is another thing but don't you think that hardware also matters?

I'm not exactly sure why not!

I'd just have to guess it's because the profit margin isn't as big and since Canada's mobile providers are in big competition right now, they don't want to take a chance in offering fancy handsets.. when they can offer cheap ones for lower prices and still profit.

Just my thoughts :D

It's a tough question isn't it??

I always have that question.... Another is that nobody really has a clear idea yet... I asked a reseller/dealer but he was like giving me a history of cell phones.. :?

RE: Any idea when 3G is a

BELL anounced that they will roll-out with a 3 platform this october actually, the press release url is below. They are already doing tests on the 3G network in the GTA with select handsets. They are going to be using a 3G standard by QUALCOMM called CDMA 1x EV-DO capable of 2.4 mbps burst rates for data, the voice upgrade is to come in 2006 an upgrade to EV-DO called EV-DV (EVolution DATA & Voice) which will operate voice over a 5 ghz spectrum frequency thus avoiding the bottleneck that some 3G providers have over hadnling data and voice on the same freeuncy (current WCDMA from Vodafone has this problem a small one though).

TELUS has note officially released any news about its 3G intentions however, the release of a new laptop internet card using EVDO infers that they too will be rolling out a 3G standard by this october with plans for voice in 2006/2007.

ROGER's partner in the states CINGULAR will shortly begin 3G service in metropolitan areas and the arrival of NTT DoCoMo from Japan will be another 3 G partner in the near future.
