In todays Calgary Sun, there is an interview with Alberta Liberal MP David Kilgour. While I can't find a link, here are a couple of snippets:

"If you draw up a thing to make people want to vomit, this is it. This is everything to make you sick to the stomach. You can mumble the line, it's about a few people, but there's really nothing you can say," says the Liberal MP, obviously exasperated by recent events.

"The Liberal party is seen as looking on the public trust as a vulture looks on a dying calf. Here we are, a G7 country, acting like a northern banana republic. What country is seen as more politically corrupt than us at the moment?

"Canada is no longer the shining beacon on the hill. We have fallen and the patience of Canadians is finished."

The funniest thing I've ever heard is that the provincial Liberals in Alberta want to change their name.

To what?

The party formerly known as the Liberals. Too funny.

You can run, but you can't hide.

The United States.

They learned that from the conservatives...Reform, Alliance, Conservatives, Saskatchewan Party. I don't think it will work for the Liberals any better than it has for the Reform/Alliance/Conservative/Saskatchewan Party.

Or the CCF, ummmm errrr, NDP.

The fact of the matter is political parties are no different than consumer brands. The only difference is instead of selling people on buying their product, they are selling people on giving their support.

The Liberal brand is being dragged through the mud in the public's eye. This is why in the last election, they didn't run as Liberals but as "Team Martin". Now that Martin has turned out to be a dud, they'll have to come up with something else to run under.

One name change several decades ago is not the same as multiple changes within a decade.

What's the point? The NDP have always been non-factors in federal elections anyway. If they are always a distant third in the polls, they will need a lot more than just a name change.
