5.4 magnitude earthquake strikes off Vancouver Island's west coast
VANCOUVER -- A 5.4 magnitude earthquake has struck 211 kilometres west of northern Vancouver Island.

Earthquakes are common off the B.C. coast, where the Juan de Fuca tectonic plate meets the Pacific tectonic plate, but few are large enough to be felt by humans.
