On Saturday 6th May King Charles III will become the 39th monarch to be crowned in Westminster Abbey since King William I's coronation on Christmas Day 1066.

As has been the case for centuries, the new monarch will receive his Crown, Orb and Spectre whilst seated on the ornately decorated Cosmati Pavement.

Due to it being a rare event - this one being the first since 1953 - it will be only the second coronation to be televised. In fact, it's set to have the largest television audience in history, surpassing the 1969 Moon landings.

Here's a 360 degree view of the place where this historic event is to happen...

A 93-year-old veteran of the flypast at the 1953 Coronation has urged the pilots taking part next month to make sure they enjoy the occasion.

Retired Squadron Leader Terrance Devey Smith was the guest of honour at RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire on Tuesday 25 April for a rehearsal of the event planned for London on 6 May.

"Just enjoy it, because it's not going to last. You don't get many exhilarating times," he said.

The 2023 flypast of 60 RAF aircraft will follow King Charles III's coronation parade at 2:30pm.

The Coronation will feature the rousing hymn Zadok the Priest, which was composed by the British composer Handel for the 1727 Coronation of King George II and has been performed at every Coronation since. The performing of Zadok the Priest at the Coronation will be a great moment in TV history...
