wo men were charged with multiple counts of aggravated battery after allegedly robbing and shooting a man on Christmas Day in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, authorities said.

Kwanie Furdge, 19, and Daniel Hudson, 31, were each charged with two felony counts of aggravated battery and use of a deadly weapon and two felony counts of armed robbery, according to a Chicago Police Department statement.
Furdge, of the 5600 block of South Ashland Avenue, was also charged with one felony count of aggravated battery with a discharge of a firearm.


The incident happened about 1:45 a.m. Thursday in the 5900 block of South Carpenter Street, according to the statement.
A 25-year-old man was allegedly approached by Furdge and Hudson, of the 1400 block of West 68th Street. The two suspects allegedly announced a robbery and fired shots, striking the man in the leg. They then fled with the victim's jacket and cell phone.
The man was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, where his condition stabilized, the statement said.
Furdge and Hudson were arrested later Thursday. Both are scheduled to appear in Cook County bond court Saturday.
