Top Gear host hits the wall on climate science

you too can host a tv show about cars, just adopt a smug superior attitude, and pretend that anythign you say has meaning! Remember to put down anything not made in your own geographic area, and complain about things that sell in other parts of the world.

Top Gear host hits the wall on climate science

I'm surprised that he didn't blame it all on North Americans, and claimed that Eurpoean climate change is far superior.

First barbequed steak of the season..was great!

We barbecue all year round, and we don't have a roof over the bbq - i shovel a path to it in winter...the only problem is that when it's really cold, the propane doesn't flow like in summer, since it's too cold to vaporize as quickly.

Study accuses corporations of hypocrisy on climate change

That's an interesting take on it. So, let's take caterpillar. Should they be allowed to build diesel engines? Or do you want to enforce a corporate policy that adheres to the reality that diesel engines create pollution? What 'environmental realities' do you want to force corporations to...

    Pipeline Spill, No 2,299,487,540

Interesting spill in Northern Alberta. Now, this isn't an 'oil' pipeline, it's an emulsion of oil and water used for injection. But the interesting part to me is this bit from the Globe and Mail: So, despite what some claim, many companies don't have any way to monitor their own pipelines...

    Canada Post, Efficient as Ever!

So yesterday I wanted to ship a small parcel to the US. I went on line, did the click-to-ship thing, where you can print out everything and pay for shipping, and then drop it in a mailbox, which I did. Dropped it in a mailbox last night. Today, in the mail, I get my package. Great service...

Latest Cause of Global Warming: Milk Being Poured Down Kitchen Sinks…

I don't think it's the environmental movement grasping at straws, I think it's the scientists trying to come up with a way to limit milk being dumped, so they jump on whatever bandwagon they can find as a justification, no matter how bizarrely desperate the link is. You see this in everything...

Thoughts re: Florida's 'Self Defense' Law

Okay, so let's accept as a given that, if you feel you are being threatened, you are legally allowed to shoot and kill another person. This is a Florida law, people seem to think it's a good idea. By this logic, it would be legal for someone, say a soldier who is being deployed to an active...

By the way, I think you need to run a thread of special bland and flavourless recipes for people who have never been outside of BC.

    Sticky Chicken Recipe

I would say that you don't need any salt, if you're using soy sauce, it's salty enough as it is.

    Your favourite cookbook....

I have some of my mothers' recipes, some from my mother in law, some that i've collected from magazines, some from on-line, and a large collection of cookbooks. I definitely don't have a single favorite, but our go-to for general day-day stuff is Fannie Farmer.

Those are great; I love good crisp b&w photos. Reminds me of the time spent in a darkroom with my father, making prints.

    Same sh*t different day

We use the slow cooker when we're gone for the day, keep it on the kitchen island. I find the slow cooker overcooks the meat when left all day, and less than that doesn't cook the potatoes. Swiss steak is a nice change, I also cook chicken breasts in a dijon mustard sauce, barbecued salmon...
