Actually, no, I did not support the Freedom Truckers, but I supported their right to peaceful protest. Unlike Liberals, I believe all Canadians are afforded the same protections under the Canadian Charter. So, broad brush, sorry, no, I've been critical of every government in charge since Brian Mulroney. I voted for the Chretien government in their first term against the Conservatives, and for Harper after Chretien left amid a major scandal, leaving Paul Martin to fall on his sword. I have always considered myself right of center on fiscal issues and left of center on social issues, which makes me the loneliest guy in politics.
I know the feeling. I'm somewhat conservative, and somewhat libertarian. Strongly fiscal conservative.

Better yet, join the Western Canada party. Strange as it may seem to you, Canada isn't about what Toronto thinks.
I spent time energy and money with reform when the west wanted in . Somehow we got a following and promptly started courting Ontario and got taken over by blue tied Liberals . We may not be what Toronto thinks but sadly they call the shots . It is a small club and we aren’t in it .

Donald Trump brags that he cost Pierre Poilievre federal election
Author of the article:Denette Wilford
Published Apr 29, 2025 • Last updated 11 hours ago • 2 minute read

Mark Carney’s Liberals won, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is resigning as party leader, and Pierre Poilievre not only lost the election but also, shockingly, his own riding after serving as MP for 21 years.

And all of that is due to U.S. President Donald Trump — according to Trump.

“You know, until I came along, remember that the Conservative was leading by 25 points,” the American president boasted in an interview with The Atlantic published on Monday.

“Then I was disliked by enough of the Canadians that I’ve thrown the election into a close call, right?” he told the publication ahead of the vote.

“I don’t even know if it’s a close call.”

Just a few short months ago, the Conservatives were enjoying extraordinary popularity — and their lead over the Liberals seemed insurmountable.

And then we all know what came next: Trump was elected, Justin Trudeau stepped down as Carney took over as Liberal leader.

Amid all that, Trump started his “51st state” talk and then began imposing tariffs on Canada, before branching out to other countries as the outlooks for global economies have significantly worsened amid all the uncertainty.

Trump loomed large over Canada’s election campaign, even surfacing on Election Day, effectively asking in a Truth Social post for Canadians to vote for him.

The U.S. leader drove many votes to the Liberals, which Carney capitalized on, and in his victory speech, the PM referred to the U.S. president as an ongoing existential threat for the whole nation — but declared that Trump will never break Canada.

However, Trump’s sovereignty threats continue.

“I say it would make a great 51st state,” Trump told The Atlantic.

“I love other nations. I love Canada,” he continued. “You know, they do 95% of their business with us. Remember, if they’re a state, there’s no tariffs.”

Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg noted that Canada as a state would probably lean left, but Trump said, “A lot of people say that, but I’m OK with it if it has to be.”

Trump reasoned that the Tories were doing fine, indicating that there was some level of support for conservative policies in Canada.

“They didn’t like Governor Trudeau too much,” Trump added cheekily.

“I would call him Governor Trudeau, but he wasn’t fond of that.”

Mostly it was the liberals pointing out nonexistent crazy people. Of course, their well paid media lapdogs added to the noise. And the lies.
With the CCP adding lots of false information to aid the liberals.
Of course. There are no crazy people. You and your imaginary friend are completely normal.

If that's what you got from Poilievre's campaign, you clearly weren't listening.
Bottom line they didn't get it done and lost for the 4th time in a row under 4 different leaders. Of course the electorate was rigged in their favour from Day 1 in 1867 which we have politely adhered to all these years later. 60 seats in the GTA alone cannot help but imply a regional bias.

Liberals were able to hold ground in TO because of Carney and his ties to the community. Freeland would not have done as well. I think the poster who thought Doug Ford may be a future Conservative candidate could be on to something because of his GTA roots.

I ended up in a Conservative riding with a lame ass representative that just qualified for his pension. He used to be the assistant of the guy who qualified for his pension before him.

The only real difference, is that last time hardly anyone, and certainly not Reform was looking at separation. It was about gaining equality within a unified Canada. Really nothing has changed since then except more people are looking seriously at separation in the west. A small sliver of Ontario about the size of a decent farm still has more votes than the entire west.

1746063079829.jpegWe’ve got the Liberals, again, for another fourth consecutive term, for potentially the next four years, so let’s see where it goes.
