The Funeral of Kings and Queens

Some points to consider:
The funeral is not for boasting or celebrations or gold and diamond, but is an incident to give lesson to man about his inevitable fate: death, and that he will sooner or later die when his body will decay and his soul will go to his Creator to receive his reward or punishment.
>> It is a time to glorify God and ask His forgiveness, but it is not for glorifying the dead man or woman.
>> Nothing will benefit the dying man or woman, from celebrations and decoration which will give satisfaction to people of that king or queen, and it is useless and of no value.
>> There will be no titles for the dead in the Afterlife: like Queen or King or Lord .. etc and no consideration of person.
>> Nothing will benefit man in the Afterlife but only his righteous work and charity in addition to his belief in God as One God with no other god besides Him and no son or parents to God Almighty, and only that man should restrict his devotion to God alone.
>> The thing that may benefit the dying man may only be the praying of God for the dying man to forgive him and show him mercy if the man is a monotheist devoting himself to God alone.
>> If man is not a believer in God alone and in all His messengers including Moses, Jesus and Mohammed, and he believes in the Quran in addition to the Torah and the Gospel, then such dying man will lose in the Afterlife.
>> Honoring the dead is the hastening in his funeral and burying.
>> The best thing in words in the funeral is to say loudly [and secretly] :
God is Most Great,
No god but only God alone
Glory be to God
Praise is due to God.

God - be glorified - said in the Quran 10: 7-10

[God – be glorified – started to dispraise those who ‘deny and disbelieve’, and to threaten them with the punishment, and so He said:]
(7. Those who do not look for encountering Our [Paradise and prosperity in the Next Life],
and are well-pleased with this life of the World,
and are content with it,
and who pay no heed to Our ‘signs and revelations’.

8. Such [men] will have the Fire as their home [on Doomsday], according to what [sins] they committed [in the life of the World.]

[Then God – be glorified – started to describe the believers and what He has prepared for them in the Next Life:]
9. Those who believe and do righteous [deeds]: their Lord will guide them because of their believing [in God and His messenger], with rivers flowing below their [trees] in the Gardens of Prosperity.

10. Their prayer in [Paradise] will be: "Glory be to You, our God";
their greeting [of each other:] will be "Salam [to you!]
and they conclude their prayer [by saying:] "Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds.")

Innovations against God's religion about the funeral:
Most people do things not justified or commanded by God, concerning the funeral.
Some even fire bullets or guns; others may acclaim or hail some words other than God's glorification.

Innovation against God's religion of transporting the body of the dead to another country:
It is narrated that Imam Ali rebuked some people who transported the body of their deceased from their village to Kufa in Iraq where he was present, and he said to them:
"Return the body of the dead to the place where he died to bury him there, and do not be like Jews who transport their dead to Jerusalem."

This is because most people think that burying the dead in a holy city or near the grave of some prophets or righteous men, may give the dead mercy and blessing or save him from punishment and torment in the Afterlife, which is a wrong idea, because every man is responsible about his own work and his own belief.

Tombs should not be constructed:

It is narrated that Imam Ali said:

{God's messenger sent me to Yemen, and ordered me:
"Break up every image or idol, and demolish every constructed tomb."}

That is because the construction of tombs of kings and righteous men will lead to their glorification and worship in the future.
Moreover, the grave is like the garbage bin; it contains the decayed corpses which are buried to get rid of the foul smell and the diseases which they may cause.

The wrong concept of people about the dead is that he listens to them in his grave, and they visit his grave to speak with him on every occasion.
While the true man is the soul, not the body.

A king may become a servant of devils in the Afterlife:
In the afterlife, there will be no titles like king or queen or lord etc.
So a prophet or a righteous man may live like kings in the Afterlife, and a king may become a servant of devils in the Afterlife, if he is not devoted to God alone and if he does not work the righteous work and does not give charity in his life of the World, for God's sake only and not for any other purpose.

Prophet Abraham said to his father who was an idolater:
As in the Quran 19: 44, which means:
("My father, serve not the devil f: for the devil was ever a rebel against [God] Most Gracious." g)

f i.e. do not worship the idols, so that following your death, the devil will have control of you and enslave you, and you then will be forced to serve him.
The worship means the service and the servitude.
g i.e. disobedient, when God commanded him to prostrate himself to Adam, and he disobeyed his Lord’s command.

Moreover, God - be glorified - told us in the Quran 16: 63 that the disbelievers of the past nations have been subjected to Satan and the devils in the Afterlife.
(By God! We, surely, sent [messengers] to nations before you [Mohammed], but the devil made their deeds [of falsehood] fair-seeming to them a. So the [devil] is their master today [in the world of souls b], and for them will be a painful torment [on Doomsday.])

b i.e. he has control of them, rules over them and humiliates them; it means: In the life of the World, he deceives them, and in the Barzakh world [or the Afterlife] he enslaves them and they serve him.
