It was never Robyn Ingraham’s intention to go into politics but when a client of the Nova Scotia barber shop owner suggested she would make a great candidate, she decided to give it a shot.

On July 16, she announced she was running as a Liberal candidate for Dartmouth South.

The following day, that Facebook post, along with her candidate page on the N.S. Liberal Party site, were nowhere to be found. Ingraham had stepped down, claiming the campaign would affect her mental health.

But in a new statement posted to Instagram, Ingraham says she was pressured to step down over boudoir photos – images she had been open about from the get-go.

“During the application process I was very open about my story, and my time in front of photographers’ lenses,” she wrote in the post Wednesday. “I explained that I love to show off the artwork on my skin, and I have no problem taking boudoir photos alone and with my friends.”

Ingraham added that she uses various platforms including Instagram, Tumblr and OnlyFans to express herself, she was open about her mental illness, and provided the Liberals with an extensive list of all her social media accounts, past and present.

But shortly after she was acclaimed, and she excitedly shared news of her candidacy, Ingraham received a call questioning her photos and asking if she’s ever had sex for money.

“I explained to multiple people over the course of my application that if/when my photos were to come out, there would be a teachable moment for the community and province,” she wrote. “This screams gender inequality from all angles, why should I be ashamed of my body and what I decide to do with it?”

Ingraham claimed the party told her to step down and to blame her mental illness for withdrawing from the race – which she did, but admitted she was “furious” about the decision and decided to come clean.

“All I want is for the real story to be out there, and for those to know that though my mental illnesses have hindered me in the past, they are not responsible for this.”

CBC reported that Liberal Leader Iain Rankin said Ingraham had been vetted by the party before her candidacy was finalized but that “shortly after, she decided she was going to withdraw.”

He said he learned that Ingraham was dropping out from her initial social media post.

“Sometimes people are unfair,” he said. “I would hope that more people start to accept people that have different lived experiences and that makes our representation better.”

Better vetting would have prevented this exhibitionist from even entering the race.

Who the hell cares. So long as she was an adult, hurt no one and was open from the get go, so what?

It doesn't diminish her ability to do the job she was going for.

It was before the election too; let the people decide if they want her to represent or not.
