Liberal MP Stronach leaving politics to return to Magna

Here we have a woman who undoubtedly has more than a few management skills, and who tried politics for a while but is returning to the business that she ran successfully for a number of years. There seems to be a double standard here. People are calling her a bitch, a whoore, etc. presumably because she had relationships with several different men. Belinda Stronach is single. How many guys in her position would be celibate? Not me.

It's because some men who aren't as successful are envious, and have to find a way to put down any woman who is more powerful than they are. Like Peter Mackay, who only got where he is today because of his father and Brian Mulroney, and generally has more than one girlfriend on the go at a time, who had his little feelings hurt. So all the old boys had to act like "big men" and be ignorant and insulting.

Typically, that says much more about the person using those words. For example, those who call her a b*tch, even in this thread, are revealing an awful lot about themselves. And it isn't pretty.

What are you so upset about? She probably had more power as CEO of a major company than she had as an MP and she no doubt made more money in her previous job. She tried politics and now she is going back to business. If her company takes over Chrysler, that should give her even more money.

Belinda Stronach is one of the worst role models for females in politics for Canada.

She, obviously has no moral fabric, or family values, if she goes around sleeping with married men.

And she IS one of the worst public speakers I have ever heard (I watched her speach after the last election on CBC). Uses "New Market-Arora" 50 times in the speach.

And she is obviously not in there for the public service to the public. She wanted the power.

After the Cons. didn't give her what she wanted (leadership), she jumped ship for a nice comfy cabinet minister position with the Liberals.

Now she doesn't have faith in the Liberal party to get power again so she is quitting to take over a nice executive job at Magna.

All else aside, i think she handled herself pretty well in the political arena. It was her lack of sheep like mentallity and inabillity to do as she was told that made her unpopular amoungst other mp's.
had she of found herself in a position as a party leader in any form, her strong buisness background and the fact that that i am betting she could be a very strong negotiator would have made her aforce to be reckoned with.

On the buisness side of things, the political experience and doubtless political ties forged from her time as a politician. Can only serve to benefit Magna and herself as she progress's, i doubt this is the last we have seen of Belinda in the spotlight.

A Successful business woman! Oh come on! Her father, Frank Stronach, built that company and made it into what it is today! I don't judge someone as a successful, when they have a father that can set them up with a high profile career. All it is, was she was dealt some very nice cards being born into a rich family. Hmm, I wonder if she would be a "successful business woman" if she had not been born into a wealthy family with a father who owned a multi-billion dollar corp?

Considering that the mass media in this country and in the US has been sheeling out a daily society changing dose of everything but moral content for 30 years, it's a wonder any of us are still clinging to some of the moral fabric that our nations fabric was founded on. However considering that she is a single woman and open to choice does not label her $!ut, and compared to what the men over the years have no doubtedly done.
