It isn't all due to job loss. (And job loss is only temporary anyway. Last I read, the average person changes careers at least 5 times in their life. You lose your job, you move on and get or make another one).
Buying power of average people has pretty much stagnated since the late 1970s. Yet the wealthiest people have gotten wealthier by some 2000%.
I sold my shop and we bought a piece of land with an orchard and I raised enough from the orchard in the first year to buy a herd of chickens. Hubby retired from firefighting and is now repairing all sizes of machinery from skidders and cats to lawnmowers.
However one can, they should save for that "rainy day". Very little in life is permanent.
Uncaring and thoughtless? uhuh Try again.
Bet hubby gets a nice pension from his firefighting days . You are so hard done by . But tell me if buying power is the same as it was in the seventies why do most households have two or more vehicles ? In the seventies my house had one bathroom and a clothes line . Now all houses are multi bathroom with washer drier , dish washer , etc . We are living longer richer lives than any time in the past .

Holding a belief other than someone else's does not constitute hypocrisy.

No one will disagree with your statement, however, the moment that this 'opinion' demands a fundamental structural change in domestic national policy, you had better be prepared to talk the talk and walk the walk, otherwise, they are simply empty words

lol I am shaking my head .... at you.
https://www.dw.com/en/the-earth-is-...sources-faster-than-it-can-provide/a-39924823 Not only that, but Earth is losing hydrogen (at a rate of about 95,000 tonnes per year) and helium into space.
I know you think everything is limitless, but you really should go back to school.

What does this have to do with Canada's resources are you trying to say CO2 is pushing it out of the atmosphere?

Many suicides over the last 4 years, so yes, What's our rush? feeding the family off the top of my head is the number 1 rush. What jobs?

If you can't carry on in your career, change it.

Green industries are scaling down due to lack of Gov. grants, without the grants the industry is dead because it cannot stand on it's own.

When do you estimate that Canada will run out of these resources you are referring too? We have enough Oil reserves not being tapped into to support the world for generations, I'm sure by then there will be a suitable energy replacement to displace Oil.
Canada isn't as bad as some other countries. We have plenty of resources for a while.
lol So what do you think will be a suitable replacement for the defunct oil industry if not green energy?

So like you said "what's your rush" roll with resources enjoy everything that it pays for, suitable alternative energy will catch up someday and give you something new to worry about.
Yeah, maybe a suitable source of energy will be ignorant hot air from the undereducated. lol

We are all going to die , the end is near . . So why do we need to reduce our carbon footprint if the problems are with hydrogen and helium ?
Your end might be near. I have a ways to go yet and I prefer to be frugal. You can waste as much as you want.

Geeezez. Loss of hydrogen was just an example. DUH

Hubby's pension is irrelevant. I earn my own way. No, I am not "hard done by", I make sure of it, I can adapt.

Most families are smaller. How often do you see families of 10 or 15 anymore? Healthcare is the main reason we are living longer. So you are living longer and spending more. Why are you whining about job loss?
I think you just have such a grudge against greenies, you waffle around with excuses for people that refuse to change.

But you are talking resource depletion in the same vein as climate change Apples and oranges . I have no problem with the three r’s of recycling , I have no problem with a smaller footprint . I do have a problem with the doom and gloom and government mandating behaviour. I also understand that mankind has adapted to changing climate and other conditions and continue to do so .
If our climate is getting warmer it should help your orchards growing season , you best adapt .But tell me how giving a government that cannot live within its means more tax dollars is going to reduce or carbon footprint . And well you are at it explain how bringing in 300,000 new people to Canada per year will allow us to reduce our carbon output to 1990 levels .

When someone can answer those two questions satisfactory I might believe it but I have yet to hear that answer .

I was posting about climate change, but then someone threw out the strawman about loss of jobs. I merely replied to it.

I have no grudges , but you on the other hand refuse to see that society has changed for the better and we are doing more and more to correct the shoddy practices of the past . When I was a boy going grocery shopping with mom , the tellers had ashtrays , and the patrons in the market thought nothing of smoking in the store . We used to dump excess oil and lubricants into waterways ,. We had lead and sulphur added to gasoline . So many positive changes in the last fifty years and more are coming . The world will be just fine .and humans will adapt to whatever Gaia throws .

lol I refuse that huh? The quality of life will last as long as we have resources to sustain it.
