Did I make a mistake in thinking this forum was a place where intelligent discussion took place? Is it just a "Teddy Bears' picnic.

Teddy could do the world a service by donation his brain to science. It would be the only human brain that could be used as a super conductor without cooling it to absolute zero and thus becoming inert with no movement of its parts.

Science would give much to unravel the secret.

Ahhh, I see that you're taking the high road and pursuing all of that intelligent discourse with the above post.

Kudos. You are certainly the bigger man (or person as the case may be)

Lots.

And the people spoke. They don't what carbon taxes.

Obviously.

You mean the ones that could find their way to the polls.

Misleading robocalls went to voters ID'd as non-Tories - Politics - CBC News

An investigation by CBC News has turned up voters all over Canada who say the reason they got robocalls sending them to fictitious polling stations was that they'd revealed they would not vote Conservative.

Although the Conservative Party has denied any involvement in the calls, these new details suggest that the misleading calls relied on data gathered by, and carefully guarded by, the Conservative Party.

Robocallgate isn't over yet, the people affected were on a proprietary list owned by the Conservative party and in some cases some of those redirected claim the calls all came from the same source. There's also the Conservative campaigner in Guelph who's IP address has been linked to local robocalls that misdirected non-Conservative voters. Can we claim to even have a fair electoral system now, this hasn't been the first case of election fraud under the Conservatives.

Maybe it is your values that are out of sync with the rest of the population. While I am certainly no fan of Harper or his fundie backers I have noticed that the economy is doing much better and taxes are lower than under the previous Liberal government. People that are willing to get out and work are doing well.
Now if you are a freeloader it may not look so good.
Harper did remove the longgun registry as promised and if you value freedom this is indeed a step in the right direction.
BTW I did not vote for the cons either.

The things I value most are democracy, real - not faked - justice and respect of basic human freedoms, I'd like to think that a majority of Canadians are with me on this. I also think that given a honest chance to prosper most people in this country will, but the Conservatives are no different than the Liberals in creating their own set of roadblocks IMO. I'm seeing a lot more poverty in this city in recent years and this is supposed to be the hotbed of the Canadian economy. The longgun registry was more symbolic than anything, we need something real to make a difference.

I see little evidence that the current(or last) government realy cares about these things, politics just seems like one big scam to them.

I know I am late to conversation, but I don't understand why people are only starting to take notice to this whole run about. It has been going on for so long it's pretty much common place for EVERYTHING. Is it just because harper is the one who is pulling these particular strings?

Honestly I think it is kind of sad that people haven't expressed their out rage at such bills in the past, and if they have Then why didn't they express it louder?

Canada is en-rout for change and that change is going to be a unexpected (for most people). The question is, are canadians going to force the change or is the government going to just step on us until there is nothing left..... Hmmmmmmmm.

Nope. You did make the mistake of thinking you could just spout off and not get called on your silliness though.

Is it just a "Teddy Bears' picnic.
Oh all the girls call me that!

Teddy could do the world a service by donation his brain to science. It would be the only human brain that could be used as a super conductor without cooling it to absolute zero and thus becoming inert with no movement of its parts.

Who's Teddy?

You mean the ones that could find their way to the polls.
Nice red herring.

Pretty much. That's how the whole 'bias' thing works, when it's 'your' party you make excuses, when it's the 'other guy', well then the sky is falling. Doesn't make a heck of a lot of sense to me either.

Sounds to me like it isn't those who run our politics that is molding Canada to end up like american politics, it's Canadians who started it. >_> After all they are the first ones to "Oh but it's for the good of man kind, this *bill* against terrorism" if they start it, but if the other guy says "F-You" Well then ****'s going to get nuked.

Doh, re, mi, fah, soh, lah, ti, doh

That about sums this whole thing up me thinks.

As Harper said to Peter Mansbridge in an interview nor long ago. "When I have finished, Canada will be unrecognisable."

Wilfred Laurier said the Twentieth Century belongs to Canada. I have yet to see a pink slip. Point is talk is talk. I don't like spoiled brat politics either. Should the time come Harper steps on the right toes, he'll be outa there - and probably leave another Kim Campbell or John Turner in his wake

That would sound like your preferred authority. You obviously have a profound contempt for democracy and truth.
I'm not sure if you're responding to my post or not. If you are, you obviously know SFA about my politics....

Hint ... there are some writings in blue in the text block lower left. Please avail yourself of the function

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I think he likes to believe he's better than all of us.

And yet, has failed to back up or support his silly claims, at each and every turn.

And the kicker, can not for the life of him, figure out how to operate the quote function.

Hey have you ever noticed that it's the ones that can't figure it out that spend the most time telling us how amazingly brilliant they are? Talk about over compensating! I wonder what else is being overcompensated for? 8O

Last time I checked democracy was alive and well in Canada. You are still allowed to vote, voice your opinion and live where you want. Just because you do not agree with the current party in power does not mean democracy is in trouble. The cons have a majority government so they can do pretty much as they please for the next three years. If enough people don't like what they see there will be a change of government. So far there is little to excite most people in the other parties, both of which are about the best vote getters the cons have at the moment. This may change after the Libs have their election or it might not. Time will tell.
It is entirely possible that Harper will be the catalyst that gets whiners off their fat lazy asses and go and vote. You gotta admit that the voting numbers are pathetic.
