Just a news item.
They sure are a pretty airplane - hold up well for fifties technology. They love using those big silver planes don't they!
CTV has a nice shot of one of our CF-18's escorting a Bear:
A CF-18 Hornet, left, from 4 Wing Cold Lake flies next to a Russian Tu-95 'Bear' long-range strategic bomber on Sept. 5, 2007.

It's nothing serious to worry about.... They used to do it all the time in the past and are just simply stepping it up again to test our defenses and response time.
Just do it back to them a few times and see how they like it and perhaps it'll stop.
To be fair, I'd like to read the Russian version of the story. And if there was a legitimate reason for the aircraft to be so close to Canadian airspace at that time, seeing that it did cause an incident, I think Russia owes Canadians an explanation and an apology.
I would also like to know if Canada or any other of its allies (after all, when we're in an alliance, our allies' behaviour reflects upon us too) have behave similarly towards the Russians. If so, then Canada or our alliance owes Russia such an apology and an explanation too. And if any of our allies has engaged in such an activity, then Canada shoulld pull out of that alliance at once.
Well Well... look who decided to show up.
Where have you been?!
This is and has always been par for the course. The Russians have just cranked it up a little as of late. Both sides do this and will continue to do so.
When we were in the Med Sea we had a Soviet destroyer right off our starboard quarter the whole time. It stayed with us as soon as we entered the Eastern Med and did not let go.
But seriously... do you think pulling out of an alliance is going to keep the Russians from pulling this? Do you think they give a care about Canada? Maybe you can enter into an alliance with them!
The thought crossed my mind a few times in the past.... then Russia and Canada could gain a monopoly over the North and its resources.
