House GOP bucks Donald Trump, scraps legislation to “buy American” iron and steel

At one of his victory rallies last week in Cincinnati, Trump told the crowd, “We will have two simple rules when it comes to this massive rebuilding effort: Buy American and hire American. Whether it is producing steel, building cars or curing disease, we want the next generation of innovation and production to happen right here in America and right here in Ohio, right?”

But Republicans in Congress, apparently ready to buck their party’s leader, days later announced that they were removing the “buy America” amendment from a water infrastructure bill that would require the government to only fund projects that use American-made steel. The provision would have allowed for exceptions if American steel had quality or supply problems or drove up costs substantially.

Ignoring Trump’s demand that the government find ways to support U.S. manufacturers, particularly the steel industry, House Republicans stripped a “buy America” provision from their version of the Water Resources Development Act that had already passed the Senate. The bill is for infrastructure spending on the country’s waterways.

It will just be in bullets and under the pretense of a good cause.

The relatively insignificant terrorist attack will come first and then we are going to another war.

This is almost 100% guaranteed.

He may not even make it to 2019 to be honest.
Really?? Just what is honest about you. Donald better have a stamp for his signature on a stamp for the number of items he will be changing in the US. Things Hillary should have been doing for the last 30 years. Want a peek at what they were getting away with with the blessing of the various administrations? You really should try facts some day, they never embarrass you like the stupid lies you take as gospel.

EXPOSING THE EARLY DAYS OF THE CLINTON CRIME FAMILY

Accurate and documented account covering the many organized crimes of degenerate pathological liar, sexual predator and psychopath Bill Clinton and the crimes of he and his wife, Hillary Clinton when Bill was governor of Arkansas and Hillary was with the Rose Law Firm, including Whitewater, CIA cocaine trafficking through Mena, Arkansas throughout the 1980's, money laundering, judicial corruption, bank fraud, many murders and cover-ups and how the media and the hidden power structure behind the scenes protected and continue to protect the Clintons.

Trump has something other leaders don't have, passion for and from his followers. I'm never seen people support a leader in this fashion (except the temporary insanity of Canadian's who thought JT was legalizing weed!! ). He fully realizes this and will let people know when he gets stumped on is attempts to help them, he's pretty savvy with social media. No matter how Carrier cost the government or how many jobs did move to Mexico, the point for people is that some were 'kept', that's it. When people are used to always loosing, something is better than nothing!! If he keep the people engaged, he will be President for a long time. America should buy American first. I buy always buy Canadian first, then US.

FAR more people associated with traitor Bush have mysteriously died.

He may not even make it to 2019 to be honest.

Impeach Trump!

It's a good bet that it won't take too long for a Dump Trump movement to begin as he has offered nothing in the way of solutions to the USA's problems and has so many legal cases pending against him.

But he hasn't said anything about this yet. His failure to keep all the Jobs from Carrier and other's is not a good start.......

Meanwhile Trump get's snubbed by the GOP.......

Donald Trump may have positioned himself as the champion of American workers but Republicans on the Hill are already embracing his “do as I say, not as I do” modus operandi. Under the backing of Paul Ryan, the GOP leadership stripped a provision from a water bill Monday that would have required American-made iron and steel products to be used in infrastructure projects funded by the Safe Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF). Democratic Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown blasted Republicans, who removed the “Buy America” provision (which passed the Senate with strong bipartisan support) while the House and Senate were reconciling the bills. In other words, GOP leadership scrapped it behind closed doors.

By stripping meaningful Buy America rules from the water infrastructure bill, Washington leadership is choosing China and Russia over Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin,” said Brown. “This was the first major test of whether Washington establishment Republicans would live up to President-elect Trump’s promises to put American products and American workers first – they failed, and American iron and steel workers will pay the price.”

Now, Brown is teaming up with Democratic Sens. Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin and Bob Casey of Pennsylvania to insert the provision back in the bill.
They want to reattach the provision to a nearly $12 billion Water Resource Development Act (WRDA), which authorizes dozens of infrastructure projects around the country and is on track to pass the House this week.

“I’m not giving up on this fight,” Baldwin said in a telephone interview Tuesday. “Why would we pass a bill that only benefits Russian and Chinese steel corporations when we could be providing certainty to American manufacturers of steel and iron?”
In essence, “Buy America” sounds as nice to Republicans as it did to Trump, but in practice they would rather preserve the "Buy Chinese" option that Trump uses to build his skyscrapers.
