Isn't it great to see the swamp getting drained?
Outsiders with proven expertise in their fields will be a tremendous improvement over the old closed political circle and their cronies who thought they knew best and were running the country into the ground with their self-serving policies.

Steven Mnuchin is going to be Treasury Seccretary! After his 17 years at Goldman Sachs, he's gonna clean up Wall Street! It was a good appointment, seeing as Obama caused that banking meltdown on his sixth day in office and Goldman Sachs, ignoring the danger to themselves, mind you, rode to the rescue and saved us all.

Hillary should go to jail for that, don't you agree?

Maybe Bill too, be kind of neat to get them both in there! :) :)

Specially for causing the biggest bank failure since 1929! Those damn Democrats! They were probably planning that during the whole Dubya administration! A few Goldman Sachs and Fanny Mae types will fix Wall Street for good!

Gonna be GREAT, again!

Just so I have this straight. When Obama and the Bushes and Clinton were in power their cabinet were the ones getting orders from 'them' and they were just mouthpieces. With Trump they are giving his policy out and the implementation of his plan is why they are in control as far as restructuring the country as far as foreign policy and local policy is concerned.

Perhaps America can make up for lost time and be as great as she was envisioned to be once free from outside concerns. (EU Banking Cartel) The EU won't crumble anymore than she usually does every few 100 years or so. (just in time for the IAF to offer to monitor their skies as a no fly zone for military flights no authorized by the IDF. The Kings and Queens can use tanks to keep the Peasants at bay. Talk about a win/win/win situation.

You now have a rapacious Wall Street banker baracuda as Treasury Secretary and they're going to give the rich the biggest tax break in a third of a century. What a brilliant way of helping those working and Middle Class Americans who voted him in! There's magic there ... somewhere ... Trickle down? Maybe it'll work this time or maybe, Trump is simply finished with the poor rubes who supported him and it's time to harvest even more from Middle America.

Harvest time!

Gonna be GREAT, again!

There's another angle to that. When you leave more money in rich peoples' pockets it provides a chance for more job creation and more donations to charities! Not sure if it's a great deal but there's bound to be some pay back!

Listening to the critics, journalists and 'experts'(?) pick apart every move Trump makes and every word he speaks, I wonder,
1)How many large corporations have they directed?
2)How many deals have they negotiated?
3)How many diplomatic positions have the held?
4)How many international leaders have they interacted with?
If they are so much more knowledgeable than Trump why do they not hold important positions in those areas?

Also, I would like to hear just once, an apology from interviewees like this: 'Excuse me for talking while you are interrupting'.

Trump's nominee for Defense Secretary.. General Steven Mattis, a 4 Star Marine Corps General who led the U.S. Southern and Central Commands.. is a blunt, effective officer who is highly respected in the military and in Congress. I think he's as good a choice as there is for the difficult portfolio.

Most of Trump's ultimate success will be based on his economic program, though, under the direction of Commerce and Treasury.

Commerce

Wilbur Ross, 79, is an merchant banker with Rothschild and a successful investor in steel, coal, textiles and auto parts. He has a Yale BA (Lit.) and a Harvard MBA and his net worth is $2.9 billion He comes from a Catholic family.

Treasury

Steven Mnuchin, 53, comes from Goldman Sachs (17 years), Soros Fund Management and the movie industry, where he produced American Sniper, and Real Estate. He has an undergraduate degree from Yale and net worth of about $40 million. He comes from a Jewish family (so much for anti semitism).

It all really depends on the attitudes and agendas of both these nominees. Certainly Ross' background in the core industries that have been decimated by Free Trade will give him insight into devastation that has rusted out American idustry.. and potential solutions.

I view Mnuchins background at Goldman's as more problematic. The key is whether he sufficiently removed from the monetarist dogma that rules that firm. Because any rebuilding of America will have to rebuild it financial system. It will also require that big Wall Street banks be broken up. And that Glass Steagall Act which mandated commercial and investment banking be operated under separate ownerships be reinstated. That would remove another of Bill Clinton's disastrous economic innovations, along with NAFTA.

There are two distinct cultures on Wall Street. The Investment culture which Ross seems to come from and the Trading culture which is dominant at Goldman's (and Soros). Goldman's fingerprints are all over the smoking gun of 2008 financial fiasco. It's graduates fill Central Banker and government policy roles throughout the West and they are responsible for the desperate economic conditions it has fallen into. It's is very much defined by the radical Monetarism of the last 40 years with its ethos of free markets in currency, credit and derivatives and market deregulation. Steven Bannon, Trump's chief strategist, also came through Goldman's.

The U.S. needs to go back to what worked for it in the centuries lead up to the catastrophic free market era on the last 45 years. This is the paradigm that these two men profited from mightily and we'll have to see whether they have the independence of mind and the character to reinstitute a sustainable and equitable economy.

Certainly the worst choice Trump could make would be to make Mitt Romney as Secretary of State. Romney made his fortune at Bain Capital.. a vulture firm that scavenged on the remains of American industry destroyed by Free Trade. He plundered them, moved them off shore or sold off their assets and fired their workers. He would be a NeoCon redoubt within the administration. Trump already has one NeoCon in his administration with Mike Pense. That is enough. Bringing Romney in would be a flag that he has been coopted by the Republican Establishment.

Defense

Gen James Mattis is a bibliophile with 10M books in his library.. putting him in a long list of intellectuals who are flag officers. Also he is an opponent of waterboarding, calling it torture, which he deems a stain on an honourable military and validates mistreatment of American POWs. He really seems a most able and worthy nominee for Defense Secretary.

Education

The role of Education Secretary has gone to Betsy DeVos, who is from a wealthy family of auto parts makers and married into the Amway fortune. She is a vocal proponent of Charter Schools and lessening the federal footprint in education.

I'm of two minds with this. Universal, free public education through high school is one of the great achievements of the modern era. It formed the bedrock of a cohesive and coherent community life for most of the 20th Century and of the industrial society.

But that great ship has really been torn apart by the iceberg of the culture wars. It is seen by many now as a platform for ideological indoctrination of the New Age... with its moral relativism, radical individualism and licentious ethical standards.

Parents simply have rebelled against an institution that promotes homosexuality as normal, healthy, genetically determined; enables promiscuity and distribution of contrecptives in school; by the extreme environentalism that casts humankind and science as culprits in favour of some kind of pagan eco idolatry grounded in pseudo sciences like AGW and a mystical cosmology. All in an educational system where the mention of Christ or prayer will get you fired.. but the teaching of virtually any form of occultism is promoted in the interests of 'diversity'.

The public education system put itself in this fix by continually lowering its academic standards, churning out semi illiterate high school graduates and acting as a shill for a world that is divided by race, religion, ethnicity or political allegiance, in a culture of warring ideological gangs.

There is danger with splintering the educational system of a nation in that it could produce a permanently fractured social order. But, frankly, that's happened already as public education has become racked with pessimism, cynicism and political correctness which has destroyed its integrity and effectiveness.

Anyone who is worried that some of Trump's nominees are from the world of big wealth should remember that Trump and the Republican majority are the bosses. Those nominees will have to toe the line that the Republicans draw for them. Or they won't last.

They are all from wealthy positions, all are very experienced at running big corporations with many subsidiaries but without the fake part of competition existing and that means the profit margin can be held to 3-5% rather than the sky is the limit demanded by the shareholders in power today..

'Mad Dog to Pentagram Chief seems to have a bit of PR to it when nonintervention is to become the norm. The Engineer Corps might be a growth industry in a program that might be 10 years long is the infrastructure is upgraded to standard that will pass 2100 specs. Once the home place is running like it should then we can start to help the less fortunate in other nations.

Would it be better to appoint a bunch of politicians who don't know diddly-squat about running business? Like our Canadian Government?
When you get people who have never done anything successful outside of politicking running the country you can't expect anything but failure.
Trump's wealthy nominees are wealthy because they know how to succeed. When they put their know-how toward running government affairs they will do a good job.
