Trumptastic!

From the earliest days of his campaign, Donald J. Trump made keeping manufacturing jobs in the United States his signature economic issue, and the decision by Carrier, the big air-conditioner company, to move 2,000 of them from Indiana to Mexico was a tailor-made talking point for him on the stump.

On Thursday, Mr. Trump and Mike Pence, Indiana’s governor and the vice-president elect, plan to appear at Carrier’s Indianapolis plant to announce they’ve struck a deal with the company to keep roughly half of the jobs in the state, according to officials with the transition team as well as Carrier.

We can only hope that he will be a good president and be able to sell his ideas to congress . He also has a good opportunity to become the spitting image of the body ! Jesse Ventura . Remember him , one term wonder .

Listening to NPR they are ripping their hair out over this.

It is as if they wanted the jobs to go to Mexico.

United Technologies just took Trump hostage and won.

Bernie Sanders: Carrier just showed corporations how to beat Donald Trump

Today, about 1,000 Carrier workers and their families should be rejoicing. But the rest of our nation’s workers should be very nervous.

President-elect Donald Trump will reportedly announce a deal with United Technologies, the corporation that owns Carrier, that keeps less than 1,000 of the 2,100 jobs in America that were previously scheduled to be transferred to Mexico. Let’s be clear: It is not good enough to save some of these jobs. Trump made a promise that he would save all of these jobs, and we cannot rest until an ironclad contract is signed to ensure that all of these workers are able to continue working in Indiana without having their pay or benefits slashed.

In exchange for allowing United Technologies to continue to offshore more than 1,000 jobs, Trump will reportedly give the company tax and regulatory favors that the corporation has sought. Just a short few months ago, Trump was pledging to force United Technologies to “pay a damn tax.” He was insisting on very steep tariffs for companies like Carrier that left the United States and wanted to sell their foreign-made products back in the United States. Instead of a damn tax, the company will be rewarded with a damn tax cut. Wow! How’s that for standing up to corporate greed? How’s that for punishing corporations that shut down in the United States and move abroad?

In essence, United Technologies took Trump hostage and won. And that should send a shock wave of fear through all workers across the country.

Reducing corporate taxes benefits the consumer.

Reducing corporate taxes benefits the consumer.

What really helps the consumer is cheaper products. Corporate welfare that keeps HVAC products more costly helps exactly how?

I can understand Trumps issue with free trade, if your going to have free trade, you also have to be equal employment conditions, wages etc.

Otherwise trade is not free and not equal

If we're going to actually humour a real discussion about this then we have to acknowledge some facts:

- 700 carrier jobs are still going to Mexico

- Trump has to pay Carrier $7 Million to keep any jobs in the US

- the taxpayers will have to subsidise these jobs or debt will skyrocket

- Trump will have to do this for every company he wants to prevent leaving

- Eaglesmack and Locutus are officially socialists

Poor flossy. I don't think he can take much more good economic news.

Listening to NPR they are ripping their hair out over this.

It is as if they wanted the jobs to go to Mexico.

The laft hates good government and a strong economy. Cuts into their voter base.

Let's hope he can duplicate Obama's record of creating 15 million jobs. Better yet, let's hope he can match Clinton's 25 million jobs created.

Let's hope he doesn't loose as many as Obama did.

What really helps the consumer is cheaper products. Corporate welfare that keeps HVAC products more costly helps exactly how?

Cheap products don't help anyone without a job. Except those that collect government cheques.

Don't celebrate yet. Apparently the decision to keep some of the jobs in the US was reached only because Carrier was promised financial compensation. There is also no guarantee that this decision will last very long. After all, Carrier has to complete against other firms offering the same products and many of those competitors manufacture their products in counties with low wage economies. When push comes to shove Carrier has to make a profit, otherwise there will be no Carrier in either the US or Mexico.

I guess we built a unsustainable society, based on unachievable standers. We're on the hook for 200 trillion in promised benefits, but our net worth is only 70 trillion. $hit!!! We needed 12 kids each to make our model work ;)
