Democrats search for answers to stem a spreading Republican tide

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/democrats-search-answers-stem-spreading-republican-tide-111317153.html

Still sifting through the wreckage of the Nov. 8 election, Democratic leaders nationwide are struggling to find a new message to claw back support and avoid years in the political wilderness.

Not only do Republicans control the White House and both the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives, they now hold 33 governor’s offices.

“We lost the governorship of freaking Vermont,” lamented Washington-based Democratic strategist Chris Kofinis. “We didn’t just lose an election. This was a national rebuke. This was biblical.”

“The party’s message, structure and apparatus are broken,” said Kofinis, who was chief of staff to moderate Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia. “We haven’t acknowledged it for years because we had the White House.”

During Obama's tenure, Democrats lost over 800 state legislative seats, at least 13 governorships and both houses of Congress.

“What is happening is a result of decades of smart organizing by conservatives who have very simply poured resources, talent and energy into creating an infrastructure at the state, local, and now national level,” said Bill Lofy, a long-time Democratic strategist in Vermont.

Please tell us again about that Clinton Ground Game. I love old tales.

Any party that stays in power for two or more terms tends to start feeling entitled and gets sloppy in their attention to public opinion.
The comments coming from the defeated Democrats make me wonder if they really understand how out of touch they really were.
They aren't likely to gain popularity unless they stop telling how it should be and start listening to how the voters want it to be.

We have a Rep in our district here who has the secret of staying in power. He has been elected for three terms and will almost certainly be elected again. His secret? Every time government tables a Bill he polls his constituents. He gets his one vote like everybody else but he votes for the Bill according to the wishes of the majority of his constituents. He even resigned a Cabinet post to vote with the majority.
Not many politicians will do that.

They should go back to their roots. Trump won by essentially pirating their original platform, which was conservative, religious and populist in the 19th C... and their electoral franchise in the working industrial middle class. Political correctness fragmented and destroyed the Democrats.

The Democrats don't have to do anything except put forth a middle of the road candidate. Americans will be tired of the shyte show and the racism in four years. If they get a candidate that has some conservative policies, they'll win over a huge chunk of the republican vote.

In what part of 'the road' was Hillary Clinton in your opinion?

They should go back to their roots.

That means abandoning identity politics and they'd have to stop calling Working Class Americans (and anyone who isn't them) racist, homophobes, etc.

Idiots are having a real hard time with that... as you can see.

It should be remembered that the Democrats are still the majority party with Hillary's vote count margin now at 1.9 million. All they need do is to cultivate the rural vote and they will easily win. They need to remind the rural voters that it was the Republicans who screwed them in the 1920s as did Reagan in 1985 and that it was the Democrats who bailed them out. Unfortunately they have chosen to dismiss that vote to their (and the country's) detriment.

I suspect the Democrats won't have to do anything. The Dumpster is already rolling back his promises and he's not even president yet. As I said in a previous post "Get used to disappointment." All the democrats have to do is wait and watch while the Dumpster attempts to implement his contradictory and unconstitutional policies while the so-called "Republicans" shoot themselves in the foot.

Well that fake narrative (story) didn't last too long.

Uhhhh no, they didn't. Every administration since Reagan, including Reagan, have been hammering on the farming communities, including but not limited to stuff like artificially manipulating the price of beef. Or how farm chores done by the kids are now considered paid labour and must be paid by the farmer. Others were forced out of business by govt legislation designed to do just that.

The number of family owned and operated cattle farms in the US is less than half the number there were prior to the Reagan years and following administrations. The Clinton and Obama administrations did them no favours either.
By the way, many of those farms are still in operation, they're just corporate run factory farms now.

But if we're going to start digging up sh*t that happened before any of us were born, maybe the Democrats should remind everyone it was THEY who started the KKK. It was THEY who voted against emancipation. It was THEY who voted against giving women the right to vote. It was THEY who voted against giving Black people the right to vote. Maybe then they'll get that rural vote.

Oh no they wouldn't want to remind them of that!

They also wouldn't want to remind them that they Democrat Party LOVED slavery. They loved slavery so much that they went to war to keep slavery sending hundreds of thousands of men from rural areas to their deaths.

Report: Hillary Email Story Leaked by Closest Obama Adviser to Sabotage Nomination Run

Repeating allegations he made on Fox and Friends earlier this week (video below), Ed Klein has written in the New York Post that sources tell him President Obama's closest adviser Valerie Jarrett was the behind the leaks of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private e-mail address during her time as secretary of state. According to Klein's contacts, the email leak is part of a Jarrett-led Obama effort to deny Hillary the Democratic nomination for president.

And, there may be more scandals coming, according to Klein:

[A]t Jarrett’s behest, the State Department was ordered to launch a series of investigations into Hillary’s conduct at Foggy Bottom, including the use of her expense account, the disbursement of funds, her contact with foreign leaders and her possible collusion with the Clinton Foundation.

Six separate probes into Hillary’s performance have been *going on at the State Department. I’m told that the e-mail scandal was timed to come out just as Hillary was on the verge of formally announcing that she was running for president — and that there’s more to come.
Apparently, the latest round of political infighting was instigated by the 2014 mid-term elections. Klein's sources say Valerie Jarrett felt that it was the Clintons behind the multitude of Democratic Party candidates keeping the President at arms length during their campaigns. Jarrett felt that attitude was behind the party's awful showing, and that it was created by the Clintons to wrest the party leadership from the hands of the Obamas.
