Texas secessionists inspired by Brexit: ‘If Trump fails #Texit seems to be our best remedy’

Thousands of social media users are jumping on board with a Brexit-style secession for Texas — which Twitter users are calling “Texit.”

The Texas Nationalist Movement has been trying to piggyback on Britain’s vote for leaving the European Union for several weeks, arguing the two movements are basically the same, reported Vocativ.

“The vast majority of the laws, rules and regulations that affect the people of Texas are created by the political class or unelected bureaucrats in Washington,” said Daniel Miller, president of the TNM.

The Texas secession movement is nothing new, of course, but the “Texit” catchphrase exploded in use Friday, after Britain narrowly voted to break away from the EU.

Vocativ found more than 5,800 people tweeted the phrase — a five-fold increase from the day before — and 1,745 people tweeted about it between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. London time, when the results were announced.

TNM updated its official Facebook page, which is followed by more than 200,000 people, with a cover photo that showed the Texas flag overlaid by the #TEXIT hashtag.

They're seceding AGAIN?

They do this every coupla years. I think we should expel 'em, pull out all our military bases, drop a 300-kt warhead on Austin, and say "See y'all!"

Every year or so this issue comes up. But then someone reminds them that the only reason why Texa.s.s survives is because of all the subsidies and welfare it gets from Washington DC. Then the issue gets dropped.

It used to be an independent sovereign state. Like Hawaii and Vermont.

Actually, it consisted of what is now England. Before it was taken over by the Scots, and later the Dutch, and after that the Germans.

The Kingdom of England, an independent nation state which existed from the 10th Century until 1707, consisted of what is now England and Wales.

He'll probably refer to another post he made years ago, as proof

And that we all should clearly remember when he did.

Seriously though... you have to love how libtards point out that Red States receive more government funding giving the illusion that Red States/Conservatives are more dependent on the funding.

Well that funding is for government facilities, office buildings, and military installations, NPS locations, etc. We could go on and on what that funding includes. But I would like to see them cut off the personal and family entitlements to these states and see who screams bloody murder.

To be fair, you rightwards have a certain tendency to completely ignore all the government direct and indirect subsidies when you're thumping your chests about the "free market" and "private enterprise."
