Many Americans are mocking their contestant in Sunday's Miss Universe pageant, Fox News reports.
It wasn't the fact that Miss USA came in second to Miss Colombia that was dominating social media chatter -- it was her answer in the interview portion of the contest.
When asked what message she would give to terrorists, Nia Sanchez said, "I know as Miss USA I can always spread a message of hope and love and peace, and I would do my very best to spread that message to them and everyone else in the world."
Pageant viewers took to Instagram and Twitter to voice their disapproval with Sanchez's answer, sending messages such as "Miss USA's plan to defeat terrorism may make your head hurt" and "'What message would you give to terrorists? Sigh.'" Fox News reported.
But others came to her defence, Fox News said, with messages like, "Weren't we just setting miss (sic) USA up to fail? Our nat'l security has no answer for terrorism but miss USA does?"

That's the first sensible thing I've heard a beauty pageant contestant say.
