Many right-wing, fanatical tea-party types are angry at Obama not only for his having traded the five top Taliban leaders being held at Guantamo in exchange for the U.S. Army deserter, Bowe Bergdahl but also for his not having taken steps to seek the release of the Marine hero, Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, being held in a Mexican prison for having mistakenly crossed into Mexico as a result of confusing road-construction-work signs near the border.

Now, in the wake of right-wing, fanatical tea-party critics of President Obama for his failure to even bring-up the status of his Marine-hero Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi during Obama's personal teleconference meeting with Mexico's President Peña Nieto, President Obama explained the foreign-policy nuances of when to leave-behind the leave-no-one-behind policy:

"As I've always said, 'Leave no deserter behind, but leave Marine hero Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi in a Mexican jail on bogus charges.'"

Leave No Deserter Behind; Leave Marine Hero in Mexican Jail

From what I understand this person broke the law and was arrested. It has nothing to do with his being a Marine but everything to do with breaking the law.

It sucks he wasn't allowed to 'just turn back' due to the signs, but oh well. I'm sure if the reverse were true to either side of the border as someone crossed into the US, they'd still be in jail too. Just like this guy.

Apples and oranges.

Mexican police officers arrested for crossing into U.S. illegally after man was found shot near Tornillo port of entry | KTSM News Channel 9 | News, Weather and Sports | El Paso, Las Cruces, Juarez

Let's see the Marine has been in jail for 2 months, Mexican police who crossed into the USA with their guns, processed and released within 72 hrs.

Okay then, my bad. Shockingly they weren't kept.

Still does not negate the fact the guy isn't arrested because he's a Marine, but he was there illegally with guns.

Comparing the two men is still apples and oranges.

Of course not you've never been outside the double wide in your long miserable lives.

I used to drive to work along zero avenue . Many times I saw American border patrol walking on our side of the border , guns and all .
I never saw one questioned or arrested .

Think the thing to point out is "American Border Patrol". That's not the same as Joe Average Citizen with a vehicle of guns.

When it comes down to preserving and protecting Free Trade (and NAFTA) for the American business elite.. ANYONE is expendable.. and will be left behind and forgotten. In fact most of America's wars and 10's of thousands of dead over the last 50 years are, at their primary root, aimed at protecting the Gobal Trading Organism.. not the U.S.A.

Not to mention the de-industrialization of America and impoverishment of millions of citizens, the enslavement of hundreds of thousands in wretched conditions in 'Maquilladora Free Trade
zones south of the border... their is no price the rich won't impose on the poor to protect Free Trade.
