The chances of it passing the Senate are about the same as a Snowball's chances inside a blast furnace.

It's a shame, because this law is nothing short of a pile of rotting manure. If we want to go to a government controlled medical program, why not adapt the German model?

Germany has universal healthcare, Obamacare is based on the Romney Model of increasing the rate of private insurance. The two could not be farther apart. Germany has a single payer (for about 85% of their population) so can negotiate far better prices. America likes lots of paperwork and a free market that increases wealth, not health.

There is no free market in US healthcare: there is no insurance competition allowed across state lines, anyone over 65 must be on medicare, etc. Real free market would lower costs and improve product (care) as it does in every other industry.

Defunding Obamacare has claimed a victim.

Yup, America.

The Tea Baggers are going to show us just what complete sociopaths they are over this issue.

The Tea Party's take-no-prisoners, gut Obamacare budget showdown: Neil Macdonald - CBC News - Latest Canada, World, Entertainment and Business News

Norman Orenstein, a scholar at the right-leaning American Enterprise Institute, is the book's other author.

He says Tea Party politicians "want a massive revolution, and if that means upheaval and catastrophe in the short term, and election losses, that is preferable to compromising. They have in part been convinced by their own self-reinforcing wind machine that default would be fine. It is not just suicidal, it is homicidal."

The current Congress has been the least productive in American history. Mann and Orenstein, in their book, say it's time to recognize Republican obstructionism as the cause.

The public though, has so far reacted with irritation and benumbed indifference. People seem to think the threats of government shutdown and default are just histrionics.

Perhaps. But it may not be a good idea to underestimate ideologues bent on glory.

And they want to run the country.
Oh I think the cost of Medical and all was at 1 percent inflation rate. What was it for the past 10 - 15 years.

Good press but this action is going nowhere in the"Exempt" American Congress. Why should any Congressional members care? They have their own fully paid system and it allows them the freedom of selecting their own personal Physician. The US Congress which was intended to serve the US citizens is now raping them in things like this. The US Congress is now dedicated to serving their own interests and welfare. Screw the voters!

ObamaCare SUCKS!! The Canadian Socialized Health Care Sucks!!!

Because of employers are required to pay for employees Health care in BC, Save-On-Foods, Costco and other BIG Corporations hire Part Time employees so they don't have to pay their Health Care and the BC Government requires you to pay for BC Health care if you live there..

As sad form of ObamaCare..

The rest of Canada wait periods for operations, going to your local doctor you can only discuss one aliment at a time..

When I lived in the USA I loved my BlueCross.. in Canada,BC and Alberta.. they can take their ****ty health care and shove it in some dark hole.

Privatize all health care and if you don't keep yourself healthy, charge those idiots more.. the fatter you are, the bigger your premiums.

Following the current US model in Canada does suck doesn't it? BC will be healing their system soon with the oodles of money they'll make exporting evil natural gas instead of solar power that will make more storms in Calgary that rotate backwards.

So all that garble - you like Canada's system and ObamaCare??

I stick with the US system as it stands..

To much abuse in Canada... start copays and require a deductible like in a car accident..

I want to pay doctors and health care workers a good wage, after all they are keeping you alive and healthy.

I like Canada's system but without following the US private insurance model like I BC where you pay and employers pay. It only makes the end products or services the companies produce or provide more expensive to the end consumer and lowers the overall services provided to people in need of coverage.

Why would you cheer that on further in the US where people are losing their jobs and coverage?

It's a multipayer system

America likes lots of paperwork and a free market that increases wealth, not health.

Actually it does both, although private hospitals (for profit) are about 10% or 15% of the entire health system, the rest are government or non-profit.

Compare to Japan, where health care is universal (multi-payer system), cost is about 55% per head of America's cost, and 90+% of all hospitals are privately owned, and 95+% of all doctors are privately employed.
