Clear Channel Media Holdings, a company privatized by Bain Capital LLC and Thomas H. Lee Partners LP in 2008, and the parent media group to which Rush Limbaugh is a part of, has reported a first quarter $60 million loss over last years reported first quarter losses. In the first quarter of 2012, the company reported losses of $143.6 million. In the year since that happened, Limbaugh lost many (over 2600) advertisers after the way he handled the Sandra Fluke story. Now, in the first quarter of 2013, Clear Channel has reported losses of $203 million.

The free market has spoken. Ouch.

How much of the loss is attributable to Limbaugh? No speculation.

ClearChannel is losing money because they tried to take over the entire radio industry. In doing so, they have pushed people away from AM/FM radio in droves and made Sirius XM, Pandora, and countless other radio alternatives huge successes. In taking over they assumed all would continue as it was and borrowed money to acquire. Then when the floor fell out of advertizing revenue they have a huge debt to service and less revenue and in virtually all economic models, that is represented as a loss.

Now certainly some advertizers chose to not advertize with Limbaugh so that may account for some of the loss in that with less advertizers the rates would be lower somewhat. But to say it is the entire reason is just wishful thinking or ignorance or both.

It makes sense that the most popular show by orders of magnitude causes a loss of money.

God punishes.
That's why there no lefty show in the top 30.

Hey, I used to catch the odd Limbaugh thing on tv when we had tv service. Also Glen Beck. They were simply funnier than the comedians like Stewart and Maher who were TRYING to be funny.

Anyway, looks like people have spoken through their opinions.

Yes, the many millions who listen to him everyday; more than any other radio host. Also, there is no lefty talk radio to speak of.

Many liberal radio hosts have tried to compete over the past 30 plus years. Those very few that hang on in the major metropolitan markets ALWAYS have a very small market share. Barely enough, in most cases, to even remain on the air. They almost always gradually lose their audience, and drop off the air one by one.

In the meantime, Rush makes millions every year, and he laughs at the libs that keep trying to knock him down.
