Rep. Darrell Issa said Wednesday that he is pressing ahead with a committee vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress, despite an 11th-hour move by President Obama to exert executive privilege over the Fast and Furious documents at the heart of the dispute.

The announcement immediately touched off a caustic debate on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, as Democrats accused Issa of prosecuting a "political witch hunt" and Republicans stepped up their criticism of Holder's "stonewalling" over the Fast and Furious probe. Even for Washington, the tone at the hearing was decidedly bitter and accusatory.

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee was first informed of the president's decision to exert executive privilege in a letter Wednesday morning, shortly before the contempt vote was scheduled.

Issa said committee staff are evaluating the letter but described the move as too little, too late as he and other GOP lawmakers questioned the basis for the assertion.

BREAKING: House Oversight Committee Votes 23-17 To Hold Eric Holder In Contempt of Congress…

(CNN) - Voting on strictly partisan lines, a House committee recommended Wednesday that Attorney General Eric Holder be cited for contempt of Congress for failing to turn over documents relating to the botched Fast and Furious weapons sting operation.
The measure now goes to the full House for consideration, expected next week, of what would be an unprecedented event - Congress holding a sitting attorney general in contempt.

The Committee got the vote to hold a Congressional Contempt citation fr Holder. Now I think the watermelon seeds on the White House porch could be getting slippery. Obama chose to issue a Executive decisoion which tells me after all of thise time haggling about the papers this whole thing may be Obama's Watergate item. What I see is pervaricators hiding out behind Executive Priviledges.

This too will pass, as outrageous as it is.

The damned Democrats sending off weapons to Mexican drug cartels while they cry out that America needs to suspend the Second Amendment to prevent guns getting to the Mexican drug cartels.

Outrageous!!!

But the MSM loves Obama....and this all is buried on page 10.

Literally.

No outrage.........

Of course, there is NBC:

NBC's Today Continues Blackout on Fast and Furious Controversy

NBC's Today kept up its complete omission of the Fast and Furious gun-running controversy on Wednesday, even as a House committee prepared to vote later in the day on whether to find Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. CBS This Morning stood among the Big Three morning newscasts in devoting a full report to the issue. ABC's Good Morning America gave only a 20-second news brief on the controversy.

Overall, NBC has punted on the story since December 2010, when the scandal first emerged. NBC Nightly News had its own blackout on Fast and Furious until June 12, 2012, when correspondent Kelly O'Donnell finally mentioned "Congress's investigation of a failed operation that sent U.S. guns into Mexico" during a 30-second news brief. The issue hasn't been mentioned since on the evening newscast.

CBS This Morning anchor Erica Hill introduced correspondent Nancy Cordes's report by noting how "a House committee is due to vote today on finding Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. Holder has refused the Oversight and Government Reform Committee's demand for documents from the controversial 'Fast and Furious' gun-running operation." Cordes highlighted during the segment that "Holder says there's no evidence of a cover-up; that he's already provided 7,600 pages worth of documents; that this is, essentially, a Republican fishing expedition."

On Good Morning America, news anchor Josh Elliott gave his sole news brief on Fast and Furious six minutes into the 7 am Eastern hour: JOSH ELLIOTT: Meanwhile here at home, Attorney General Eric Holder could be charged with contempt of Congress today. A House committee is demanding more documents about the government's Fast and Furious program, a failed sting operation that allowed weapons to get into the hands of Mexican gangs. Holder calls the committee's threat to hold him in contempt pure politics.
The ABC morning actually hasn't been much better than its NBC counterpart, as they've have only given one other news brief on the controversy over the past 18 months.

You are soooo right Colpy. Not a peep from the networks. A scandal that dwarfs Watergate and because he's a Democrat there is not a whisper.

A mammoth cover up by the Whitehouse to cover the lies of Holder.

So much for the transparency that Obama promised.

Hope and Change Baby!

The World
When the Republicans take the White House, and the Senate, and keep control of the House of Representatives, this will ALL come out in great detail.

It will show that Holder and his deputies were in this up to their eyebrows, that they briefed Obama on it long ago, and that Holder committed Perjury before the House Committee.

Obama believes that this will hold till after the election, and if he wins another term, he can simply bury the issue. But, he won't win another term, and Holder and several of his deputies will be prosecuted for perjury, and Obama's name will end up as stained as Richard Nixon's.

He simply doesn't understand that Chicago style politics violate Federal laws.

I seriously hope that Issa and his Congressional Committee do prevail. But I already see some who voted to do this are getting weak knees.

Democrats could have held Karl Rove in contempt but, as always, they were too timid to do so. Republicans on the other hand swing away forcefully at the slightest opportunity. It's the price Dems pay for their timidity.

Wow... so the Obama Administration pumps thousands of weapons into the Mexican Drug Cartels... then plan to blame the gun shop owners in the south west for drug violence in Mexico and for fueling the Drug Wars... a Border Patrol Agent is killed by one of these guns... the Obama Administration gets caught... now they are using Executive Privlege to cover up the lies.

Hope and Change.
