With the added support for XP Home and Media Center, Microsoft has marked a precedent, as this is the first time that the Redmond juggernaut introduces software products into the Extended Support phase for consumers. Windows XP Professional already had policies support that extended beyond 2009. In this regard, Microsoft will offer support for Windows XP for a total of over 12 years, as the operating system was launched in October 2001 and will expire in April 2014.

They probably realized that not as many people switched to Vista or 7 as they originally had hoped. I like XP and will use it for as long as I can.:)

Good news. I use both Windows XP and Windows 7 on various PCs. I'm still much more comfortable using Windows XP, but I'm slowly getting used to the Windows 7 interface.
