Why are there no voice activated computers? I punch the term in and among other crap I get is a useless Youtube video about a voice activated computer that controls your house. Geeks are not so smart. Who cares?!

Why can't we say, "turn on computer, fire up the web." Or, "down web page, up web page." Then you could watch TV and surf much easier.8O

Why are geeks stoopid? Geeks are known to be keenly focussed on one thing but they can't make a PC that puts the keyboard out of business. Just try to work on one simple problem at a time. But they can't.

Why can't we say, "turn on computer, fire up the web." Or, "down web page, up web page." Too tough!!! I know, too much slang for them. Here's some motivation, "porno websites." I chuckle. Take some ESL classes four eyes.:roll::roll:8O8O8O8O

Try Canonical/Ubuntu-set up for voice recognition.

Well XP, Vista and I think mac OSX all have some features that can be voice activated..... check out the speech section in Control Panel for a list of what can be done.

But as it goes for Voice activations, touch screen monitors and the sort.... they're coming very soon. They say most of this will be in the next generation computers and operating systems.

As Praxius says it's out there, but largely not ready for prime time. It's not a trivial technology to develop, as you will well know if you've ever used a dictation program, or worse, voice commands to a cell phone. "Did you say call home?" "NO!!!!" :)

Dragon Naturally Speaking provides all these features, problem solved

Absolutely right. I have "Dragon Naturally Speaking" and I am dictating this response by voice. I don't see why simple commands couldn't be made using this system.

Actually it can. There are some built in simple ones like, open browser and notepad and such.
