But if we didn't buy HD-DVDs we would have missed out on a lot over the years. It is just like VHS players. Blue Ray will be surpassed someday I am sure.

Sort of like giving everyone who bought a Sony walkman cassette player a hard time when CDs came out. The same with Atari, Playstation I, PS 2, XBox.

Anyone still using their Commodore 64?
Pong is the ultimate!

Actually all is not lost for those who bought HD-DVD- you get a way better picture when playing standard DVDs on them. I have one for xbox360 I paid 200.00 for it and there is quite a difference. Both formats are probably on the verge of being obsolete anyway.

These days they don't have much time to market something before the next big thing comes along. Since they spent so much time and effort fighting each other , Apple walked in and got a toe hold in their market.

And how can we forget Atari "Combat" or "Sea Battle". I just think of all the quarters I spent on games like Asteroids, Defender, Missle Command etc. when i can buy a CD in the software discount pile for $10 with all of those 1980's arcade games on one disk.

man, there is a lot of retro posters in this thread.... lol

I just purchased Full Metal Jacket & Good fella's on Blu-Ray, the quality is amazing, much better then the high def you get via satellite or cable due to it not being heavily compressed.

I used to have the HD-DVD addon for the 360, I have nothing negative to say about it. Another handy thing with the 360 addon is you can hook it up to your PC and pirate HD-DVD films.

I remember playing Asteroids for about 10 hours straight and I had about 250 extra men. It trained me well to sit at a pc for 10 hours straight posting on forums.

I was also a big Galaxian fan.
