I just got back from lunch with a friend and was told that when his new internet connection was set up for his house, that to activate it they had to go through Iraq...What's up with this...

Information flow for the People in Canada is a sovereignty issue, as such, where is the CRTC in this matter......Or is this someone who wants to play ganes????

To anyone this may pertain to...Canada is sovereign and any backdoor bull****.....

Something to do with the service connection...I don't particularly care where it went..the fact being that it's not in Canada.....Communication and connectivity are a sovereign issue to my mind and are to be dealt in that fashion......This is love of Country, not paranioa..

Go through Iraq? That doesn't make any sense. I know some Canadian ISP's outsource their tech Support to India, Iraq though? I doubt it.

There isn't any real activation that needs to be done for an internet connection though, with DSL, they assign you a DSLAM port on a line card and create you a user ID and Password and away you go. With Cable, a similar process to DSL, minus the line card provisioning.

I get the message....Don't need false info on this forum....But I think CRTC should be responding to the overall timbre of the issue of communication and ensure that our sovereignty is not affected from areas of their jurisdiction...

How can we move forward with imperfect information??

Entertainment is entertainment and seeking quality information for those who seek it should be done unfetterred from disinformation.....

What is it you want to know? I can guarantee you that to activate a Rogers, Sympatico or Telus connection, you do Not have to go through Iraq in any shape or form.

Let me put it this way;

Dialogue leads to Understanding
Understanding leads to Cooperation
Cooperation leads to Trust
Trust leads to Trade
Trade leads to the Future

We've got to work on Trust to move forward...Do you Trust what I'm saying is True.

I don't have all of the information to discern, so I simply state my position.

I have worked for ISP's in the past... funny thing is, people actually do ask questions even stupider then yours about activating through Iraq. You would be surpised how many times people have asked if the internet is down, like it's a frigging light bulb...

I spoke to my friend again and he said that in the process of the installation, 2 workers, one on site and one on the phone gave him the same information anecdotally.. Is there possibly a problem with communication within the major Corporation that they both work for???

You say it's not true and the "Street" says differently. Which is it??
