Android on a PC Really??

It's fired up but is it life for older PC's for the folks without smart phones. The typing here seems to have bogged it down but with all the other things I've had to do it certainly runs faster that win 10 in an AMD4x and 4gb of ddr2 ram. It would not recognize a SATA drive but the OS and storage could be as low as 8gb and no higher than 32gb.
Now I have to find out how to install firefox and see if it saves video like it does in windows and that would justify having it take up the 250gb on the ide drive.
Anybody else tried it yet as it would be an easy transition for that crowd if it is as good as I have heard. (I don't have a cell or smart phone)
Swaping the mousefor a desktop tab would work so would that also mean the whatcom devices would be touch screen friendly??

I went back to my old machine with Win7.

I've got choice words for Microsoft but at least Windows 7 will live until 2020 officially. I still use XP on my laptop and it's fine......

Why would you want to put Android on an old PC when there are so many Linux distributions available that are far superior? Android is clearly based on Linux, I have it on an Asus tablet, but Google seriously crippled it and locked it up so you can't control what it's doing anymore.

If you ever get the chance to try XP 64 you should as it allows the 64 bit programs to run on it.

That is because it is meant for people who want it on a phone, being small is how that is accomplished rather than it being part of a plot to take control away from 'most' users. Yes it is Linux and I needed to use Linux (Puppy as it takes up less that 200MB and the OS fits into ram so it is pretty fast bu itself. There are still more people using smart phones than Linux so that was my motivation, easier for me to learn Android than put an OS on an old comp that is 'foreign' to anybody but experienced Linux users. I needed Linus to get the dual boot from 1 hard drive and leaving the Win10 alone as it has all the important files on it (as well as a backup on the Linux partition and online)

I don't have a tablet and if I did Android would be more like an program rather than an OS on it's own and I would be using to to control the tower when not using it as a mobile tower. Digital Dvorak keyboard would probably get you on a terrorist list someplace.

My favorite Linux OS is Debian and it comes as 10 DVD's for the 'complete' OS. I use the kde version and the server at the University of Calgary as the repository for whatever program I want after that. Wine is one such program as it is needed to run one windows program that can't be run on Linux and anything similar is 'crappy'.
