Eugene Kaspersky is not given to easy hyperbole. But the Russian maths genius who founded an internet security empire with a global reach, clutched at his thick mop of hair with both hands.
"I don't want to speak about it. I don't even want to think about it," he said.

"But we are close, very close, to cyber terrorism. Perhaps already the criminals have sold their skills to the terrorists - and then...oh, God."

Speaking privately at the London Cyber Conference, Kaspersky told Sky that he believed that cyber terrorism was the biggest immediate threat to have emerged to confront nations as diverse as China and the US.

"There is already cyber espionage, cyber crime, hacktivisim (when activists attack networks for political ends) soon we will be facing cyber terrorism," he said.

I don't know about working for terrorists, but we certainly have various governments doing this kind of thing already. The Chinese are very good at it.

That would be the only war that's acceptible. Where in an age were war isn't logical.

Really - Have you considered what the repercussions are for say overloading all the power plants in the western US?

Tell me what would happen with no power - years to rebuild plants as they are toasted to say the least.

I think this guy's been hangin' with Viki Toews by the sounds of him...

If there is a cyber war it'll be because governments are too stubborn, ignorant or stupid to back down when they've gone too far...

Cyber terrorism will be conducted by those who can best afford all the various flavours of the art, and it will be carried out by governments against their own people. That would be the same terrorists who did 911 and then invaded Iraq then Libya and now Syria. Governments can afford the most expensive terrorism available from their own fine schools.

Maybe the USA or Israel may have already started a Cyber war.. ???
