Hardly blew the Pens off the ice. The Habs had the hot goaltender but as wittnessed in the first game in this series, Halak can be beaten as well. I look for the Pens to take this series in five or six games

I don't know if the Habs will beat them but are the Penguins as good as everyone makes them out to be? Last year, as the playoffs neared, the notion of them winning the cup was considered a joke. They haven't improved that much. Heck, didn't they get smoked during their visit to Vancouver? They certainly have a shot but league parity gives all the remaining teams a shot.

People sometimes get hookwinked because there is a super star on the team, but Hockey is a team sport and the superstar is 20% of the force about 33% of the time.

They won't make it that far...

When we consider that the fourth round is the Stanley Cup final, it will be two elite
teams to make it to that point. Vancouver got by LA in the first round and they should be able to get around Chicago in the second. If the Habs win their second round they could be playing Vancouver in the third. Does that leave Vancouver to play San Jose in the final........I think I'm missing a team here....;-)

They should coast and save their energy for Vancouver.

Coast???? Against the mighty Pens. Pshaw. The Habs played a good game without home ice advantage. I give them all kudos due, however.... never write off the Pens, never.

It will be sweet to slide into Montreal and take game three.

Go, Pens, Go.

Ya think. Quite the game. Couple of questionable penalty calls, IMHO. Thought the Sharks were up to anything that the Red Wings threw at them, which wasnt' a heck of a lot.

The loss of Jordan Staal is huge for pens, and they have
had a season of ups and downs, never were thought of as
the team to beat for the cup, but with Crosby at the helm,
that possibility is always there, and that little piss ant
cooke has scored 4 goals in the playoffs now, hope someone
smacks him on the head before he gets another one.

When habs scored that one goal today, it was the only shot
they had in that period, up to that point, maybe the only
one all period, not sure.

In Montreal, with that crowd all fired up, and a win under
their belt, montreal could get another one, the way habs
playoffs is going, anything could happen, but all the stars
must align, as they really haven't played like a playoff winner
all year, and now markov is gone, big loss for them, although they
won without him today, and cammaleri scored two, how stupid were calgary
to 'just' let him walk away, because he is a pure goal scorer.

Pittsburg were not the division winners, they were fourth
in the conference, so not the favourite, but always should
be respected for their possibilities.

I have been a Habs fan for 58 years. and I think they will beat the Pens but not by
much, the reason, goal tending. You have a hot goalie you win seen it time and time
again. Twenty five years ago I was a play by play announcer for Junior A Hockey.
Back then as now, there is a feeling in the air, the media feels it, the teams feel it and
the fans ignore it on the outside and that is what is happening here. Montreal is in
the zone, and the worst of it is the more they get behind the bigger the come back
and that is what happened to Washington. No matter what they did the Habs came back. Crosby was mad tonight and the reason he knows if they can't get the goalie
off his game they are about to go golfing. Will the Habs win the cup? No but they
will establish the confidence they need to build a better team over all and that is
what makes believers win.

Got ya beat by 2 years...

Too many imponderables to make a prediction here. Based on the season's statistics, Washington should have taken Montreal out in five, six at most, and we all know that didn't happen. Hot goaltender, bit of luck, incomprehensible psychological factors... anything can happen in the playoffs. Remember Ken Dryden's first playoffs? Habs won the Cup that year, but certainly shouldn't have based on the season's statistics. But stuff like that happens all the time, the season's statistics don't really seem to count for much once the playoffs start. Giants get killed off, supposedly second-rate teams play way over their heads, it's a whole new season. I'll be very surprised if the Habs get past the Pens, about as surprised as I was when they got past Washington, I'll be more surprised if they end up in the final series, and staggeringly surprised if they win it. But they could, it's what one of my old math profs would have called a "finite non-zero probability." VERY small, but not zero. And if that happens, I'll be very pleased for a while. It's not like it's really important in the larger scheme of things, it's just one of those "it'd be nice" things.

So yeah, them Habs are amazing. So far.

Yeah they are amazing everyone right now. Markov was injured
for quite awhile during the season, then camalleri was injured for some time, just got back couple of weeks
before playoffs, and they were doing fairly well before
he was hurt, he is a pure goal scorer, and is doing that again
in the playoffs, he makes a big difference as a forward, just as markov does on defense, so with markov gone again,
not sure how their defense will hold up.

Injuries can be a very big factor on a team, if they are
taking important players out of lineup, if cammaleri had
of stayed healthy, I think Montreal would have finished
higher up in the standings.

Sure Halak has been great, but the team still has to score
goals at the other end, he can't do that, so the team has
supported him quite well, and the defense clears out many
rebounds quickly, to help him. Montreal is a much better
defensive team than washington, not sure about pittsburgh,
they should win, but now that they are going to montreal,
many other factors apply, fan support, and familiarity
with one's home rink.
