Speed Skating looks like it hurts

I can understand wanting aerodynamics, but geez, don't they expend a lot of energy keeping their arms up on a sore back. Surely someday someone will come out with a new and novel skating style, and everyone will smack their foreheads wishing they had thought of it years ago.

that can't be possible, if I'm travelling 100 km per hr.
down the freeway, there is no way one of those skaters
is going to keep up to me.

I think hockey and any sort of skating is exhausting. It has always amazed me with the lung power required to skate for that long and skate hard with both hockey and speed skating. I bet speed skaters have the strongest thighs around.

Actually the aerial skiing looks as if it hurts more.

The training takes a toll on them. In the summer they pratice by jumping into water about 1500 times.
