"I'm shocked at the moment," Kubot said. "I didn't expect to reach the final here. I had two choices: play outdoors clay or go to Europe and play indoors hard. I chose to come here. I like to play on clay and outside. The weather is fantastic and I like the atmosphere of the Latin American events."
Ferrero, the former world's No. 1, will be the favorite against Kubot, who will be in just his second tour final and aiming for his first ATP title. Sunday's final will be the first career match between the two
The Spaniard has won eight of 12 finals on clay including the 2003 French Open. His win at Casblanca last year was his only title since 2003.
