Some more highlights.

It is nearing the climax of the AFL 2007 season.

Both of last year's championship contestants, the Sydney Swans and West Coast Eagles have been eliminated and only 4 sides are left:

* Geelong Cats
* Port Adelaide Power (I think they will win the championship, as they defeated the favourites Geelong recently)
* Kangaroos
* Collingwood Magpies

AFL hinals so far are drawing massive crowds. Over 75,000 people witnessed Kangaroos defeat the Hawtharn Hawks, and over 95,000 people are expected to see the Geelong Cats against the Collingwood Magpies in Melbourne next weekend.

Here are some pictures from recent finals matches:

It is also finals in Toronto's local Aussie Rules scene.

If you haven't seen football as it should be played, then get down to see the Toronto Eagles against arch rivals the Downtown Dingos. Both clubs have won recent titles and the Eagles will be looking to defend their title. It promises to be the match of the season and a fair crowd should be there to see every second of non-stop high flying action.

Geelong defeated Kangaroos 156-50 in Round One.

Do you mean to say they will have to go another round?

click on this link for NRL and AFL footy:

http://nrl.com/BigPondVideo/Multimed...2/Default.aspx

And it's for FREE!

Now, why won't the Brits + Kiwis give us the same shows for free as well??

The NRL is rugby league video gopher. The NRL website is much better than the AFL website.

But if you want to see Aussie Rules in action (you'll soon spot the differences between it and rugby - there are many) you can still get some good video highlights that are free.

Actually, that site presents both brands of footy. And it presents entire games, not just highlights.

Now what I'd like to see is entire cricket matches as the cric season is starting Down Under.

But again, I wonder why is it that the Brits + Kiwis don't present FREE matches all season long like the Oz's do. You know as well as I do that ESPN I + II and Fox as well as other USA sports networks are readily available world wide on cable or online. Thus, folks from overseas can see our inferior brand of footy and other sports. Therefore, it is only fair to ask that international networks make their brands of footy equally available to us unfortunate Yanks. It's only fair.

Port Adelaide and Geelong are through to the 2007 AFL Grand Final after winning their respective preliminary finals.

Port Adelaide defeated the Kangaroos 133-46 in front of a crowd of 43,953 in Adelaide, South Australia.

Geelong defeated Collingwood at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Victoria in front of a sell-out crowd of 98,003.

Here are some highlights from the games.

I'll have more details on the 2007 AFL Grand Final shortly.

Razor,

How about Didak's goal in the second period vs Geelong as the AFL goal of the year? He was nearly on his back and made a blind kick which garnered 6 points for the Cats in their strong but unsuccessful effort versus the Magpies.

What a game it was!!

You mean this one

Was awesome.
Did he play soccer as a boy ? because I have seen him kick spectacular soccer scissor goals on a couple of occasions.

The difference to soccer is that AFL players are under much more pressure as they can get tackled.

As far as I know mhz.tv is available world wide for free:

http://www.mhznetworks.org/

therefore, everyone should have access to it.

I also use www.channelchooser.com for access to Oz footy and NRL. Again, this is available for free.

As for Didak --- he is awesome. What a player, what an athlete!!

Here is Didak's bio data:

Unfortunately, it does not give much details as to his youth activities. If he stays healthy, he will break many records!

``AFL players are under much more pressure as they can get tackled.``

When I first watched AFL over 20 years ago, you used to see what Aussies call the 'coat hanger' or what we Yanks call the 'neck tie'. It's when a player jumps with his hands up to catch the ball while his opponent gives him a karate chop to the throat.

Nothing burns me up more than to see this dangerous and illegal play! Any SOB who does it should be arrested on the spot as the @#$#@ thing can be lethal!!

I'm glad to see that the League has largely done away with it but I saw it once or twice this season. ARGH!!!
