Kevin Koe, Marc Kennedy, Brett Laing and Ben Hebert are the 2016 World Men's Curling Champions today after beating Team Denmark in the Gold Medal game. Team Canada won all but one of their round robin games, handily took the 1 - 2 Page Play-off to earn their spot in the Gold Medal game, then ran Denmark out of rocks in the the 10th end to secure their win. This is the second time Kevin and the boys have won the World's for Canada. Congratulations to the team - well done. :canada:

the sport and create competition its like making work for
ourselves but it strengthens the game nice win

Along with exporting our coaches to help other teams, Canada's Hans R. Wuthrich from Gimli Manitoba is the number one ice-maker for championships around the world.

congratulations, not an easy task.

No easy task indeed, talloola. They played ten teams in all, losing only to Sweden and that by a single point in the 10th. Their individual stats were in the high 80's to mid-90's all week with several members scoring 100 percent in draws and hits. They were nothing short of remarkable and the win was well deserved.

Most of Canada's top curlers are developed in the custodial arts

All of Canada's curlers are part-time unlike several world teams that devote all their time to curling which makes this and other wins by Canadian teams something special. Same can be said for the US - John Shuster and his team had a great tournie winning Bronze after beating the Japanese team in a come from behind win.

Has anyone tried curling? It's tougher than it looks. After a weekend of sweeping you pretty much need a body cast if not used to it.

Curling is truly a delicate balance. From leaving the hack in one smooth motion to throwing the correct speed and curl then giving it to the brushers, curling is a game that is not for the faint of heart. Being able to read the ice and adjust to all different kinds of conditions is an art in itself and only the very best curlers are able to do it and even then many get caught. Several of the top teams in the world didn't even make it to the finals this year. I always get a kick out of people that make fun of curling and would give almost anything to see them even try to get out of the hack let alone get their rock down the ice. Many folks from other professions have tried out the game and are really quite astounded when they find out how really hard it is just to curl let alone reach the heights of world or Olympic champions.

It's tough enough just wearing a slider and not falling down.
