Justin Sawyer's girlfriend didn't know what to expect when she went to see him play in person for the first time.
How about a marriage proposal?
Sawyer, a defenceman playing for the ECHL's Elmira Jackals, got down one one knee at centre ice in front of his girlfriend Morgan during the first intermission of Friday's home game against the Reading Royals.
She said yes.
Sawyer finished the game with no points and one shot as the Jackals won the game 4-2.
The 29-year-old Peterborough, Ont. native, who played his junior hockey with the OHL's Oshawa Generals, has also suited up in the AHL, IHL, CHL and in Europe with the Cardiff Devils of the British Elite Ice Hockey League.
