A football fan has been killed in an accident during last night's Euro 2016 qualifier between Scotland and the Republic of Ireland at Celtic Park in Glasgow.

Scotland fan Nathan McSeveney, 22, from Cumnock in Ayrshire, fell down a stairwell and was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary from Exit 33 of the stadium.

Police Scotland said his relatives had been informed along with the Health and Safety Executive.

A force spokesman said: "There are no suspicious circumstances. A report will be prepared for the procurator fiscal."

Scotland won the Group D match 1-0 thanks to a Shaun Maloney goal and are third in the six-team group, with Republic of Ireland fourth, with all the teams having played four matches each. The other teams in the group are Germany, Poland, Georgia and Gibraltar.

England play Slovenia tonight in their Euro2016 qualifying match in Group E. Along with Iceland and Croatia, England are the only team not to have conceded a goal so far.
