They are all valid questions. Religion is a manifestation of human insecurity. The devil is just a product of religion.

I would say Christianity, Islam and Judaism are all products of the devil.

If I were president of the United States and had an army of say 40,000 men and women, how would I know how good they would be while in the peace time mode?

Well, I would think that I should somehow put them to the test. How would I do it?

I'd say, I would probably designate10,000 of them as the enemy and have some war games.

The remaining thirty thousand of them would probably call the enemy devils?

"Yeah, let's kill all them devils".

Well, the enemy really is an agent acting in behalf of the president for the good of the whole army.

The fruits of that experience would be an education on how to perform in the heat of the battle and come out hopefully, victorious.

The world is the agent (Devil) by which the flesh is educated by, it is the testing grounds, the battle field.
The souls of all it's participants are all covered as if it were but war games.

The reality of course is, that through sufferings, one learns to lean on the creator for help in fighting the battle.
We didn't ask to be here, but since we are here, we have an avenue by which we can escape the snares of the devil. (World)
There is absolutely no other explanation that offers any hope for it's participants except God is with us.
So, the devil made me do it, is nothing but the lure of the lusts of this world.

A good understanding of the word of God, the bible will reveal the power of this world is powerless to them who believe in God.
Thus it can be said, Satan, get thee behind me, for it has no power over Him that is in me. (Jesus)

Peace>>>AJ

God, devil, heaven, hell, pergatory. All figments of imagination, so, whatever we want to make up
about the devil, I guess, makes him whatever he becomes.
So, for me to play this devil game, I think he would jump into any religion he wants to, whenever he
decides, and harrass them, till they can't take it, then he would jump to another one, seems like
fun.

The devil only exists in Judism and by extention Christianity does it not? Therefore it would be those religions.

The devil didn't start any religion, because the devil is am imaginary character, used to make Christians toe the line.

Hmm.

While I have to agree at face value that pagans don't believe in 'a devil', they still believe in dark and light energies and powers to the best of my knowledge. Embracing a concept that many others call evil, devil, what have you, and giving it a place in your lore as a natural and necessary thing, doesn't mean it isn't there. Come ot think of it, I don't know of ANY religion that doesn't discuss the balance between dark and light, positive and negative, good and evil, in some way shape or form. Wording is a trivial matter. It all boils down to discussing the same human issues.

"It's a valid question"....what tripe!

If the question is what elements of evil or wrong-headedness or ulterior movtive as might be symbolized through the idea of .."The Devil", That would be a question of some interest...

Show me the Devil.

Show me God.

If you'd rather make lame excuses for what certainly appears to be a proclivity to destruction and inhumanity among human beings...then I suppose you can imagine or pretend that some simultaneously external and intenal agency is a work in compelling human beings to these various kinds of behavior....hogwash.

Excuses piled on excuses....

Certainly Wiccans believe in dark energy, evil, etc. But it is not personified. There is no physical representation of a "devil", at least in my belief system. Im pretty sure the one Doc means is an embodiment...an actual hell ruler if you will. It might seem minor, but there is certainly a difference between a devil and the devil.

I guess what it boils down to is, I believe 'the devil' (call it what you will depending on your religion.. darkness, negativity, evil), is what started every religion under the sun. If there was no 'devil', then we wouldn't need to create a religion in an attempt to nurture light/good/positivity.

I think i'm wiccan....run fer your lives....dave's got a new religion....

I don't believe it's personified either . I do not believe in physical representations of the devil other than these damn bone spurs growing on my wife's body causeing her inasne amounts of pain and operations.....leans on Robin's shoulder..waits for hug.....

And yes I'm trying to see what religion the biblical Devil created.
See how being so many different people in one head allows for great forum thread starters

Dave (and possibly others)--I highly recommend a book called "A Wiccan Bible" by AJ Drew.
