My interpretation is one of 'real life', as I have never heard anyone call someone a devil,
with any serious and miserable connotation, but I have heard, many times, what I
described above, and, for me that is what 'devil' means, as I have no connection with
any religious or ancient meaning, to me, that is just silly and make-believe, I cannot
relate to that at all.>>>talloola

The ability to do evil is resident in all of us, bar none. Whether we call it evil or not, religious or not, evil is evil when applied.

Evil is something that has to be overcome and only through knowledge of it and knowledge of good, can we differentiate between the two.

It does not take a religious rocket scientist to understand that, for even a child can learn to understand the difference.

If you will, that ability is what the curse on all mankind is. There is no original sin, but knowledge of Good and evil is what is, and every living soul will (unless one is mentally not able to reason) to eat of that tree.

Picture then, everything that is of the flesh must remain here after one dies, because it is not acceptable in the spiritual, for it is against God.

But the soul’s heart lives on in the spiritual, for God Himself in Jesus provided the escape from it.

there is no devil.. No God either. No heaven or hell,or magical beings, angels or demons.
These are all the product of human imagination ,fear, wishful thinking, ignorance and insecurity.

Such is the sorry state of man's existence and lack of insightfulness that we have to create magical realms to explain our poor ignorance.
The sorry state is, that we fail to recognize the love that is us ward, especially during these modern times, when there is a wealth of information, our early ancestors were not privy to.

It is, then without excuse, not to see that love, but, it is as you wish.

If that is not exercising a godly type quality, (Choice) then we are blinded by our own ignorance.

And that, is a consideration taken into account by the almighty, on our account, thus unconditional love is rendered.

You see and explain that saying of Jesus at face value, while I see the spiritual happenings behind that saying.
This is what I mean: you give the words meaning other than the obvious meaning. Who says : Jesus meant this? Or will you impose such meaning on him, and it must be so, other than the evident meaning?

Look raises a good point - the Bible, or any other "Holy Scripture" is so vague and subject to "interpretation" that any clever fellow could make it mean whatever he wants. And has. It's one of the silliest "books " ever written. And one of the most hateful.

Devil<>Lived
The Devil, Satan, Beelzebub (or Ibliess) indicates one person, who is their father and the chief one.
While the word "devils" indicate the many individuals among the alive demon, human beings, and their evil souls.
All these whisper and suggest to man every disobedience of God.

This is in the Quran 6: 112
The explanation: (As such have We appointed to every prophet an enemy – devils of men and genies; inspiring tawdry words to each other, by way of deception.)

On the contrary, the word of God is the guide of man, and it save him from the darkness of ignorance, atheism, idolatry and polytheism to the light of recognizing God the Creator Who bestowed on man every bounty, and yet the disbeliever is ungrateful and after being a little amount of seminal fluid, then becoming a man, he became an opponent of His Creator. Truly, the atheist and the polytheist who associate others with God; such are like the blind.

You are forging lies; and I guess what are you; you are only an enemy of both Jesus and Mohammed; and you are stubborn like the stubborn deniers of all the prophets. God gives witness to the prophecy of his servant Mohammed, even if you dislike that.

Yes, the word 'evil' is another story. A very dark disturbing word, but not 'devil', it is
lighthearted and cheaky.

nice dog...Lab?

My avatar is my husband and our 'chocolate lab' Joe, he was born right into the palm of
my hand, the last littler of labs that I bred for, as I bred and raised show/hunting labs
for many years.

He is so handsome and so perfect in all ways that, I feel like the luckiest person to have him. He has a beautiful lab temperament, and all he really wants is, to be close to us
and lay right at our feet. He also seems to take an interest in hockey games on tv at
times, so, what more could one ask of their dog. He knows not to get exicted when
the leafs play.

When I want not to take responsibility for my actions, I will blame..............the devil?

Or, if I want to describe a person's character who has committed a crime, would I call him the devil incarnate?

But really, lets be realistic, the power of suggestion is just a thought, but when it takes seed, the thought becomes and action, whether it be a good thought or an evil thought.

So, the lusts of the flesh which are, greed, jealousies, prejudices glutenous, power and glory, are what the flesh desires which are against God and of which God gives power over.

So, the devil is all these things, that when action is taken, the devil gets the blame.

My point is, that blindness happens to all mankind, for we are all born in darkness, and drawn to the light as we progress through this journey of life.

To see the value of God, ones eyes must first be opened to see, as the verse goes: ...."they have eyes but can not see, ears but can not hear"....so is mankind whose eyes have not being opened to the spiritual world.

That is no fault of mankind, but blindness today is no excuse, because of the wealth of information available for our own personal research.

If we don't like the churches, then seek that information out personally, and make that determination for oneself.

True.
In addition, there are devils: invisible beings, that stir this evil and enhance man to commit faults against God, against himself and against others.
This cannot be denied, and mentioned in all the heavenly books.

Devils? Invisible Beings?

If you go to the Yellow Pages under P and find a PSYCHIATRIST you may just be helped.

To answer the original question of this post: I think there is ample evidence that all religion is man made. So if the devil is a man then it is fair to say all of them. If the devil is also man made (highly probable) then it is fair to say non of them. The devil is in the details.

The devil is not man but the devil instincts in man is. Devil instincts are those things which go against anything that is godly.

Religious upbringing need not apply, for even one who knows not God has within the same ability to discern good from evil, for the inner man of the heart, is the conciseness of the spirit of God.

The strength of conviction then, is monitored by the Holy Spirit of God in the inner man and gives strength to those convictions according to His will.

Got to remember, that this life is a learning course, that both sides are needed in order to contrast the differences by which we may exercise good judgment in all matters.

Wrestling with God is an everyday occurrence, because the inner man's spirit drives by prompts to give action to those prompts.

Therefore, choices are made, and many times our choices are fleshly based rather that spiritually based, and are prone to be repeated until we get it right.

All the time though, whether right or wrong, God is a loving parent, willing that none should perish, but that all should be saved.
