Quote:
Satan is a spiritual entity.Jesus was tried by Satan; this is in the Gospel, Matthew 4: 1-11"1- Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil….8- Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9- And said to him, All these things will I give you, if you will fall down and worship me. 10- Then said Jesus to him, Get you hence, Satan: for it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve." The adversary is a rebel against God; the devil prompts man to disobedience; but when man rejects his suggestion, he may then seek the good pleasure of God.
Satan may suggest to any man, even, the prophets. This is in the Quran 28: 15

The explanation: (so Moses struck him [on the heart] with his fist, and dispatched him, and said: "This is [some] of Satan's doing; he is surely a manifest enemy.")

If Jesus was to be the ultimate sacrifice for the whole world, won’t it be fitting to test Him to the utter most? Why would it be not less than a test, fit for God Himself?
Obviously, no man in the flesh could meet that expectation, therefore, it would only be fitting to let God be the one to comply with His own requirements, wouldn’t you think?

Now, if Jesus was and is to be tested above and for all mankind, wouldn’t it be fitting that God would give Jesus the ultimate test in the form of Satan offering the world if Jesus would but only bow to him?

Of course, if it was to be a real test, Jesus would not be privy to that knowledge which would then consider Satan as God’s adversary.

But again, not being able to understand the scope of God’s workings, all this would be but nonsense, wouldn’t it?

Well, a few souls have been given to understand these things, because in understanding, comes a great responsibility to remain humble and not be come puffed up with pride for the privilege of understanding.

Because we are capable of making choices between good and evil, then disobedience comes from the heart of the individual, and not from any floating spirit seeking to attach itself to a susceptible heart.

Given a set of guidelines for our own safety and good, and we chose to make those guidelines of no importance, then, we suffer the consequences of our own actions, prompt by our own thoughts and desires, blaming only ourselves and not some spiritual entity.

Nobody can force the heart to change, except its owner. Change it as you desire.

Mar 7:21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

Luk 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

There, lets place the blame where it belongs, and not say: “The devil made me do it”!

Peace>>>AJ

  • Not only Jesus Christ – peace be on him – was tried by Satan, but all apostles were tried. This is in the Quran 22: 52
The explanation: (Never did We send any apostle or prophet before you [Mohammed] unless he wished [to be a messenger], the Devil proposed [difficulties that would face] his desired [mission], but God would abolish what the Devil would propose then God would establish His sign, and God is All-Knowing, Most Wise.)
  • In addition to Satan suggestions, there is the soul of man prompting him to commit evil.
This is in the story of Prophet Joseph and his brothers; how they plotted against him, because of some envy. Satan stirred them to do that and their souls prompted them to it. Jacob, their father, said to them, as in the Quran 12: 18
The explanation: (he said: "[Not so], but your souls have induced you to do a matter)
While Prophet Joseph said, as in the Quran 12: 100
The explanation: (after that Satan corrupted the relation between me and my brethren.)

Anything that was suppose to be 'thought up' by the devil, was really thought up by 'us', as
there is 'no' devil, just the devil within us.

And I love the way the word devil has evolved throughout the years.

'you little devil', he/she is very develish'. it's just a cute saying, to someone who
has a cheaky, cute side and does cheaky cute things.

A much nicer use of the word than some awful entity that many people believe causes
horrible happenings in people's lives, certainly not I.

Devils are the "dissolute and profligate" genies (or demons). The word 'devil' in Arabic means: a liar, treacherous, deceptive and cunning person.

My friend, all of us are tried by the same temptations, but not all of us respond to them to the same degree.

In the case of Joseph, the motivating factor was not Satan, but greed, jealousies.

How the Devil or Satan works against sons of Adam

He does not speak with an audible voice, but by he sends the idea to man by inspiration which is called whispering or suggestion. Man does not hear an audible voice, but he receives an evil idea (as if someone speaks to him) instigating him to disbelieve and deny God, His apostles and His revealed Books, or other evil ideas. And he goes on asserting that to him until he yields and accepts his suggestion, and mostly such man is unaware in case he is an associater or idolater or evil-doer.
  • Satan commands man to associate anyone or anything with God, so that man may serve God and another one with Him, at the same time.
  • He distracts man from showing gratitude to God Most Gracious.
  • Bids adultery, evil and that man may ascribe sons or daughters or equals to God.
God –be exalted – said in the Quran2: 169
The explanation: (For he only commands you to evil and fornication, and that you should say – about God – things that you do not know.)
  • Specially by means of drinking wine and gambling, he stirs quarrelling and hatred among people.
  • Diverts man from remembering God and hider him from the prayer.
  • He may make the matter confused for man, in order to mislead him.
  • He makes the idolatry and disbelief fair seeming to people, so that they increase in such error and misguidance.

Let me ask you a question, have you and I the same ability to discern good from evil?

If the answer is yes, then we both adhere to the same principle, that being that we both know the difference between the two, and have the same choice to go either way.

That is common to all humanity, unless one was born without that ability, such as mentally retardation.

Each religious belief has its own view of what, and or who Satan is.

You will it, it gets you, but if not, God will give you the strength to resist the fleshly temptations.

Not exactly; but in case man is alert about the suggestion and whispering of devils; he then will avoid such suggestion and seek protection of God everytime he encounters this satanic instigation or prompting.

We can not be alert first without having knowledge of Gods laws as guide lines.

We are first in darkness (Born in) and then we get glimpses of light by which we are drawn to.

The degree of light we receive depends on how we receive it, and if God wants a particular activity for us in this world.

But everybody receives some form of light by which one can determine right from wrong.

The world of the flesh is for the flesh, all things for the flesh and the spirit is for the spirit, all things for the spirit.

They are in direct contrast one with the other for the express purpose of teaching us to manage them.

How we manage them, details our involvement with life, the degree of suffering and or repeat ion of sufferings until we work to get it right.

Trials are set by God for that purpose, or say He becomes our adversary for the trials that we go through, in hopes that we will learn from them by seeking His help.

That scenario is the same for every soul, believer and to the unbeliever alike. There is no difference.

Now, if we learn to manage our spirituality to the point where love becomes the weapon of choice, then religion, religions have no power over us.

We become one with God in His administration of love in a world of adversity.

There is where we stand out above it, there is where we are different, for we are not as the world is, but as God is.

Why do I not have any problems with any of you all? Because I am above all religious and none religious beliefs, believer and or unbeliever.

Love is the above all those things onces, that is, we learn to grasp it, understand it and then apply it.

By me, you can practice any form of religious belief you like, and I will still accept you as a brother or sister.

I may not agree with some practices, and I will discuss them with you, but would never condemn you for what you don't understand, concerning the love of God.

The love of God is greater than any one of you can imagine, but you might get a glimpse of it as a father or mother of children, in that regardless what the children may do, your love for them is still steadfast.

The Quarn is good for you as the bible is for me, so together as brother and sister, as siblings of the almighty God, we are instructed to love each other regardless.

And if we can do that, God promises to reward us with all peace, joy, contentment, temperance, long suffering and love.

If we are to be effective in our loving, let us lead and not push, let us draw and not force, let us demonstrate by example, not by words only, for if we do it right, we will have attained that level of spiritual maturity which is priced above all rubies.

AJ,
Why not, love is very good; it is the philosophy of love; we should love God more than anyone, and love anyone who loves God, and dislike anyone that does not love God. This is the First Commandment: to love God with all your strength and with all your mind. And in the Quran the believers love God more than anyone else.

I see that Jesus Christ said plainly addressing Satan [as in the Gospel according to Matthew 4: 10:
"Then said Jesus to him, Get you hence, Satan: for it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve."

But this is not symbolic; and no need for complex explanation, while the truth is conspicuous and in no need to any complex views.

Moreover, God – be glorified – wants to take people out of the darkness of the association and ignorance to the light of monotheism and to know that their Creator is the same One Who is Most Gracious and Most Kind and Most Merciful; He takes care about their affairs and bestows on them all His bounties. Who does provide for them with provision and sustenance? Is it Jesus Christ – peace be on him – or is it God?

God-be exalted- said in the Quran, chapter 5: 15-16
The explanation: (15- O people of the Scripture [: Jews and Christians], now has Our messenger [, Mohammed,] come expounding to you many things in the Scripture that you have been hiding, and many things else he disregards. There has come to you light from God and a clear ‘Book’ [: the Quran.]
16-Whereby God guides him who seeks His good pleasure to the paths of safety, and brings them out of darkness to light with His leave, and guides them to a standard path [of monotheism that will lead them to Paradise in the Hereafter].)

A Call from God to the People of the Scripture [: Jews and Christians]

I understand all of that, but, that is the old description, and will stay in the dictionary
forever.
My interpretation is one of 'real life', as I have never heard anyone call someone a devil,
with any serious and miserable contotation, but I have heard, many times, what I
described above, and, for me that is what 'devil' means, as I have no connection with
any religious or ancient meaning, to me, that is just silly and makebelieve, I cannot
relate to that at all.

You see and explain that saying of Jesus at face value, while I see the spiritual happenings behind that saying. Don’t get me wrong, that is the traditional way of looking at it without having any enlightenment of its spiritual connotation.

What Jesus is not able to see is passed it, for He is blinded from seeing it.
Job is a similitude of Jesus: Isa 42:19 Who is blind, but my servant? or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? who is blind as he that is perfect, and blind as the LORD'S servant?
  • My servant: Jer 33:22 As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.
  • The “seed” of David, my servant, meaning Jesus.

Joh 15:15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

After Jesus dies on the cross, we are no longer called servants, but friends, for we do know what the Lord does, that is, if we have understanding.

Peace>>>AJ

there is no devil.. No God either. No heaven or hell,or magical beings, angels or demons.
These are all the product of human imagination ,fear, wishful thinking, ignorance and insecurity.

Such is the sorry state of man's existence and lack of insightfulness that we have to create magical realms to explain our poor ignorance.
