Time to Impeach a War Criminal

Henry David Thoreau was a man with no family and no children, and so he remained inchoate enough to say such a quote, paid for and helped through life by a greater man, that being Ralph Waldo Emerson, who valued Thoreau but was much acquainted with Thoreau's personal limitations.

We got a beautiful Walden Pond and Civil Disobedience out of it, but the personal life of Thoreau is one of privation, limitation, and generally no honor and no real guts, because there was nothing to lose and no one in his life that could get personally hurt.

The real heroes have no quotes and no stories.

Next time I'll put one of Bush's quotes that not even him could understand.

I am puzzled with your reply to the article above with a history lesson on Thoreau's life. Whatever he was, his quote makes a lot of sense in this time of age.

how is Thoreau the focus , when the topic is to impeach bush??

diversional tactics don't work.........even tho bush believes they do.

just a few of the reasons that bush should be both impeached and tried as a war criminal. .......under international law.( the same one he chooses to ignore/dismiss as non existent.)

How would one go about getting Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld etc charged for war crimes and crimes against humanity? Could one get the RCMP to arrest him, if he came on a non-state visit? Anyone have any idea?

Imagine what the reprecussions against Canada or any country would be if any of those people were arrested for "war crimes".

Technically it is the duty of any country that has signed the Geneva Conventions and other international laws to arrest Bush if he ever shows up in any of those countries on non-official business. If he is on official business, he has diplomatic immunity.

In reality the US has to make the first move. They have the right to either try him themselves or to turn him over to the ICC for trial. There will be a very definite push for that if he does get impeached, or even if he doesn't, although it is unlikely to come to fruition.

What the international community can do is to make it clear that since he has broken international law if he appears in their territory on vacation or once he's out of office, he will be arrested and tried. That should be extended to his entire cabinet and to members of the Blair government.

That would send a very clear signal that nobody is immune from the law and would effectively keep these people in their own country. As long as the international community is unwilling to go after the big fish...people like Georgie and his gangsters...less powerful people will feel free to ignore international law.

"That should be extended to his entire cabinet and to members of the Blair government."

And the other members of the coalition….

It is really the Bush and Blair governments that tried to mislead the world, lied to the UN and their own people, and are the true culprits of the war crimes. The other countries were, at most, accessories after the fact. They were arguably mislead themselves though, and so lacked intent.

They don't have any, which is why I mentioned the accessory after the fact thing.

That's just silly....

I'm surprised they don't have Wal-Mart on that list.

It's not silly at all. They know what those Cats are being used for, everybody does. The fact is that they are knowingly supplying equipment for the commission of a crime. That is against international law.

No doubt they will soon, if things keep going the way they have been, apparently.

And Canada "unknowingly" sells DP to the US and how it will be used. Are they criminals also?

Yes.

Edited to add: I would feel differently if we really didn't know, but it's such a thin lie that our leaders should face separate charges for thinking we're that stupid.

Where in international law does it say that suppliers are culpable? In Canada, if someone shoots another to death, is the gun manufacturer liable?
