I would not have expected a veteran of the Armed Forces to be so thin skinned. Are you sure your whole military career was not mistaken for just some really bad acid trip?

Hmmm...so you are saying the Bering land bridge is south of alberta?

The area now known as Alberta has been inhabited by various Native American (First Nations) groups for at least 10,000 years. European explorers first appeared in the 1750s as the fur trade expanded across western North America. Two rivals, the Hudson’s Bay Company and the North West Company, began building trading posts in the last quarter of the 18th century along the major northern rivers—the Athabasca, North Saskatchewan, and Peace.

From 1821, when the companies merged, until 1870, when this region was transferred to the Dominion of Canada, the Hudson’s Bay Company controlled and governed the area, which was populated by First Nations people, Métis, and a few European fur traders, missionaries, and settlers.

...and you wonder why people don't take a thing you racists say seriously.

That's rich, this coming from someone living in a part of Canada that celebrated a commercial that reminded them that they are not Americans "I am Canadian". We know who we are out here and don't need a Beer commercial to remind us.

I'm assuming lots of folks have come up from the south right across Canada, from the Draft Dodgers heading from California to BC, across to the Loyalist settlers into Nova Scotia, with Roxham Road somewhere in between.

How many Easterners where there on the HMCS Saskatchewan? A buddy of mine served on that Destroyer in the '70's and I don't recall many stories of Sacks like yourself on that boat. My Father was one of eight children (2 girls and 6 boys), and of the boys 2 served in the Navy, and 2 served in the Army, and 1 served in the Air Borne, and 1 went to Hair Dressing School (but that's a different story and he was pretty cool too!), & no, I didn't serve, but several of my childhood friends did their stints.

Early on, yes....& later on much of it emigrated out of Saskatchewan to Alberta when I was younger. My ancestors got to Saskatchewan from England (via Australia and then South Africa...connect those dots).

My ancestors got to Saskatchewan from England and Wales. Lots of their descendants live in Alberta but they are educated people and therefore nary a separatist among them.

HMCS Saskatchewan was a DDE and therefore, never part of the Atlantic fleet after about 1970, nor were any of the other DDEs. They had become irrelevant, obsolete and they were all put out to pasture in the Esquimalt Yacht Club.

BTW, the Loyalists didn't go to Nova Scotia. Sorry.

Your "loyalists didn't go to Nova Scotia" changes your military service from "possible false valour" to "definite false valour." Everyone with even a passing knowledge of Canadian history knows that a significant proportion of loyalists settled in Nova Scotia.

Shame on you for claiming service in our armed forces, when you never did. You pathetic old man.

My Buddy that served on the HMCS Saskatchewan claimed to have been to almost every port of call in the Pacific in the '70's (except China which was a no go), and had seen the inside of drunk tanks in most of them and discovered most curable venereal diseases in several of those lay overs. It's now a man-made reef off the left coast.

Hell if I know. I just heard that they never went to Nova Scotia, except for the ones that did I guess. We should ask Colpy as he use to be a History Teacher at one point, and lives out that direction....& I've only been as far east as Toronto so far.

The main Loyalist landing points were in New Brunswick, the Eastern Townships, Prince Edward County and Niagara, where my own family crossed.

The East Coast fleet was quite different in the 70s when I was there. All of the Navy's helicopter carrying DDH destroyers were in Halifax, except for two of the four 280s. Both of the big, newer AORs were also there and most of the submarines. We were part of the greater NATO effort on the East Coast and Canada always had at least one ship sailing in STANAFORLANT. Our NATO commitment at the time was to be able to transport a mechanized infantry brigade across the Atlantic on short notice and the DDHs were to be their escort group. Unfortunately, almost the entire Marcom had no significant modern anti air weaponry, although they were antisubmarine experts and couldn't have pulled it off without cover from somebody else.

While Marlant beat the crap out of themselves on the North Atlantic, Marpac piled up the flower leis in their wardrooms.

Yeah............................settled by people riding the Grand Trunk Railway.........................

running from Montreal to DETROIT..........................................

and then switching to Yankee carriers for the run to the Twin Cities.....................

Minneapolis and St. Paul or other points to the west....................................

buying horses and riding NORTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When the first RIEL/Metis rebellion came along....................................

OTTAWA wanted to send the brand new North West Mounted Police Force to the West to deal with Riel...........................

and the Yankees were quite happy to sell the tickets to the police.................................

but in a LUDICROUS act- considering the usual Yankee thinking about guns.............................

Washington DECREED that Cdn cops COULD RIDE Yankee railways..........................

BUT COULD NOT BRING THEIR GUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A DISARMED paramilitary force would of course be IMPOTENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which was the Yankee intention as the border west of Lake of the Woods had NOT BEEN FINALIZED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And a lack of official govt presence out west would enable Yankee land grabbing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

North West Mounted Police were of course a paramilitary force from a foreign govt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Washington DID NOT want them out west on patrol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mounties were thus the VERY FIRST PEOPLE to WALK AND RIDE along the entire north shore of Lake Superior........................

from the end of the Cdn railway near Sudbury..................

on their long march to the west!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Natives in the area DID NOT travel east to west - they ONLY traveled essentially north and south........................

following the rivers flowing into the lake - no cross country paths existed because the terrain was too tough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was this political action from Washington that gave great impetus to Ottawa to build the CNR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In related news.................................

the famous British General Sir Isaac Brock -the SAVIOUR of Canada during the War of 1812.......................

made it known in letters home to his sister.......................................

THAT HE DESPISED Canada and Cdns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because Cdns of the time were NOT patriotic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lower Canada was of course full of Frenchmen with no loyalty to any English speaking nation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Upper Canada had a population divided thus:

one third United Empire Loyalists who were so disgusted with the incompetence of British army generals ........................

during the Yankee revolution that in the early days they CHOSE NOT to fight for Canada.........................

the second group were natives - mostly Mohawks who had fled to Canada after the Revolution........................

and they were no more impressed with British military ability than their white neighbours.........................

and the THIRD PORTION of Upper Canada inhabitants WERE YANKEE BORN IMMIGRANTS...............................

who came north because land in Ontari-owe was CHEAPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the Yankee immigrants LOOKED FORWARD to a Yankee victory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As the War of 1812 PROVED......................................

Quarrels between various English speaking nations is MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is nothing more than a FAMILY SQUABBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

And now Our idiot Boy and his loser LIE-berals are PICKING FIGHTS that we DO NOT NEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But then as i have said- Our idiot Boy is an aspiring SOVIET SOCIALIST DICTATOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hence his HOSTILITY to ALL branchs of the ENGLISH Speaking Family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Head Office ... Windsor Station. His office looked out over Dominion Square. It was once part of Lord Strathcona's suite that was chopped up into smaller units and he got a window. [Duff Roblin was his boss for a time, after he was Premier of Manitoba.]

4-1/2 years of overseas service as a Flying Officer and two degrees from Queen's was good for something.

He never went back to Regina, except for family visits. ... We rode the rails just about for free, you know.
