It ain't dead yet and alternatives don't pay any kind of ROI. Most people and especially pension funds don't invest in things that don't show a return.

Its not dead. At this point all those things you mentioned are being propped up with subsidies... BIG SUBSIDIES. Do you think they are investing in fossil fuels because it is high risk? Heck no.

If I was you B00Mer, I would hope that you wouldn't want all of your retirement portfolio invested in alternative energy.

The countries that have oil don't use the world bank to finance the projects to develop the oil supplies.
