A suspect who allegedly broke into an East York home was stabbed by a homeowner and rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The suspect, a man in his mid-20s, broke into a house on Sammon Ave. near Coxwell and Danforth Aves. about 8:30 Saturday night, police said.

Once inside the home, the suspect got in a quarrel with a homeowner, also a man in his mid-20s, police said.

A knife fight ensued, causing both parties to suffer stab wounds. The victim was seriously injured and was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, Emergency Medical Services said.

The homeowner suffered minor stab wounds and was taken to local hospital.

So the guy who broke into a home, armed with a knife, is the victim?

The homeowner suffered minor stab wounds and was taken to local hospital.

No charges were immediately laid, police confirmed.

Someone comes at you or a family member- you have the choice of a gun of a knife. I know what I would pick.

I'd tell the attacker about my constitutional rights, then calmly take him to the ground ensuring he doesn't hurt his head or bruise a knee.

Then we'd talk about God, forgiveness, even the environment.

If it was a female burglar I would have her perform a pregnancy test to ensure her fetus is fully protected.

Why would anyone charge the home owner? Kind of divine justice here

It might come down to that whole "Force of a reasonable man" thing, where the
home owner might be accused of using more than the minimum force...'cuz his
wounds where only minor?

Man, if you are in knife fight, I don't think you count wounds until one is down. Same with a gun fight. But I don't think I would have left the attacker wounded. The home owner has left himself open to a law suit.

Huh.....

I was thinking the same thing. The victim is the homeowner. The other guy is the perpetrator.

And why would they not charge the perpetrator with home invasion?

If I was in a knife fight, I would just as soon have a gun...a shotgun...... if it's all the same to everyone.

I made a mistake. It was an attempted drug robbery.

They are very very common but rarley reported.

Who is stupid enough to rat themself out by going to cops when robbed of their dope?

If you stabbed someone in your home after a quarrel, would you not claim it was a home invasion?

I respect life too...my life that is so if someone breaks into my house with a knife I'm introducing him to my 9mm. First shot is a warning, second is in the thigh, if he is still there after that the rest of the clip is getting emptied into his chest & skull.
