Steven Salaita’s Historiography of Victimhood

Had the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign not nixed Steven Salaita’s appointment as professor of American Indian studies after his extended string of vituperative, vulgar Tweets, blog posts, and other communications exposed his anti-Semitism and radicalism to a broad audience, he would have likely remained an obscure academic. Today his legions of professorial supporters view him as a cause célčbre and alleged victim of the “Israel lobby” and rich alumni.

Salaita may not have presented himself as a victim of academe’s alleged perfidy before Chancellor Phyllis Wise’s action in August, but his fields of study assume the victimhood of indigenous peoples worldwide. Since world history is replete with conquests, intermarriage, assimilation, and the rise and fall of expansive empires, separating victims from victimizers through the millennia is a difficult process — unless, that is, the purpose of one’s academic work has less to do with the pursuit of truth than with achieving political goals through a quixotic, politicized reading of history.

Salaita embodies these incongruities. Given his would-be appointment in American Indian studies, one would assume that the bulk of his scholarly work treats the cultures and history of the various tribes of North America. In fact, all six of his books deal with modern Arab studies, Arab Americans, or Israel. How this West Virginia native of Arab ancestry could be offered a position in American Indian studies in spite of this fact is illustrated through the convoluted, jargon-laden work of Salaita’s mentors. His greatest, or most immediate, intellectual debt is to Robert Warrior, the director of American Indian studies at UI who served on Salaita’s dissertation committee at the University of Oklahoma.

Warrior is a member of the Osage Nation “who stands in solidarity with other tribal peoples around the world.” In contemporary ethnic studies this signifies that he, like Salaita the Palestinian, can claim victimhood and oppression at the hands of conquering powers — the European colonizers of North America, and the Jewish “colonizers” of modern Israel, respectively. This alliance of the oppressed unites in theory if not in fact these disparate fields of study.

The parts you posted fit in quite well with what Jesus would have taught the woman at the well during the time He spent at her village. Back in those days the Jews did not look on Samarians as being 'equals' and it would have been more like the time of Abraham and the two sons that divided mankind into two groups, the 12 tribes and the Gentiles.
The 'infidels' in your reference would be the 'blind Jews' such as in Matthew:23.
Adam taught Eve and Eve sinned, is that adding extra elements so a 2nd fall doesn't happen. The method is flawed because the men that impose that extra part are not given the same thing by God so if the woman doesn't sin the man will as both are flawed being.
The exodus wars used the same rules, they were parked when the 12 Tribes finished the 40 years in Jordan before God allowed them onto His land, before it is perfected, the fall that came later is what happens when something is made less than perfect.
Esau and Jacob is how adultery fits in and 'the last day' in the Bible is the detailed version of that one specific day where all the prophecy passes from being words into being reality.

Believers will equal 33% of the people on the planet, I would hate to think the RCC uses that number to determine how many of their own flock are worth saving.

Who would have though you would be posting things that clarify where the Quran actually came from. I'm going to wait to see what other else you have up your sleeve other than hairy arms before I give you a green for that post.

Now to the bulk of this 'reply'. You posted what you consider to be 'hate speech' in an effort top demonize all of Islam, true of course, this is your fuking thread after all.

All the references you posted can be found in the OT, the Jewish holy book and part of the book you claim to have some connection with due to who your parents were most likely rather than you being the one putting in your own effort.

When Eve was talking with the serpent she mentioned that she shouldn't touch the fruit either. Adam added that bit in himself, it doesn't seem to have helped but I see no condemnation from you about Adam trying to improve on what God had put in place. The Quran seems to be a man telling his wife about some steps he wants her to take so his instruction don't go as far wrong as Adam's did as perhaps if he said 'don't look either' the the fall could have been avoided. Adam still ate so Eve would not be alone in death. A Christian or Muslim husband would be as loyal. (in theory, in practice probably not so much)

Time to defend yourself and this 'thread'. The rest of the references can also be found in the Jewish book, is their history just as corrupt as your views of the Muslims in this day and age? (without the 600+ death penalty laws)

Would the message be the same if the ad that is taking up most of the post was replaced by words above na below your single line of reference. Something like 'God forbid.' would have an effect on the message would it not?

They wish you would disbelieve as they disbelieved so you would be alike. So do not take from among them allies until they emigrate for the cause of Allah . But if they turn away, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them and take not from among them any ally or helper.

Once we get into the meat of John:4 and the teaching that God left that crowd seems to OT Muslims if that is the root of the Gentiles, the ones that come under fire in the 'last days' as defined by the Christian Bible. You do stand behind the Christian Bible version do you not?
Joh:4:5:
Then cometh he to a city of Samaria,
which is called Sychar,
near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
Joh:4:6:
Now Jacob's well was there.
Jesus therefore,
being wearied with his journey,
sat thus on the well:
and it was about the sixth hour.

Surveillance footage shows how German woman was killed for heroic effort to protect girls from harassment

By Lindsey Bever December 2

The Saturday night scene was dark and chaotic. Cars zipped through a McDonald’s parking lot, weaving around a crowd of people. At about 4 a.m., one man started swinging. Another held him back. Then came the knockout blow that sent a student to the ground, ultimately ending in death.

On Nov. 15, 22-year-old Tugce Albayrak, a German citizen originally from Turkey, stepped in to protect two teenage girls being harassed by three men near a bathroom at a fast-food restaurant in Offenbach, a suburb of Frankfurt. German media reported the men were bounced from the restaurant before Albayrak returned to her friends and finished her meal. When she left a while later, at least one was waiting for her in the parking lot. He was allegedly armed with a stone or a baseball bat, the Guardian reported. The incident was captured on surveillance video posted by German newspaper Bild.

An 18-year-old Serbian man, identified only as Sanel M., was arrested shortly after the attack. He admitted he “smacked the victim in the head,” prosecutors’ spokesman Axel Kreutz told the Associated Press.

Albayrak never regained consciousness and was removed from life support on Friday, her 23rd birthday. An autopsy was expected Monday to determine whether she sustained the fatal injury from the punch or the fall, when she hit her head on the ground.
“Like countless citizens, I am shocked and appalled by this terrible act,” German President Joachim Gauck said. “Tugce has earned gratitude and respect from us all.”

“She will always remain a role model to us, our entire country mourns with you.”

Over the weekend, people across the country held candlelight vigils for Albayrak, lighting candles and laying flowers. Swiss soccer star Hans Seferovic paid tribute, writing the hashtags “civil courage,” “angel,” “courage” and “respect” on the undershirt beneath his jersey. Pictures of the young woman with long black hair and dark eyes spread across social media. More than 100,000 signed an online petition to award her a national medal of honor.

Former Egyptian muslim with big brass balls.

ISIS Is Doing what the Prophet Muhammad Did

Egyptian human rights activist Ahmad Harqan receives a daunting glare from a Sheikh while he explains in a television interview that ISIS and Boko Haram, in their violence, are following the example of the Prophet Muhammad. A Muslim apostate and atheist, Harqan describes Islam as “a harsh religion,” “a criminal faith” and says “the Quran is full of teachings that incite to hatred and murder.”

The unhappy Sheikh, wearing what appears to be the Muslim version of a Santa hat, (ok, it’s not- but it certainly looks that way!), disagrees that ISIS is Islamic (who could imagine the “Islamic State” being Islamic??) and defends his “religion.” With the typical regurgitated propaganda, he tells Harqan that Egypt, “the mother of all cultures and religions” welcomes Bahais, Ahmadis, Communists, Marxists, Satan worshippers and homosexuals.

This is interesting being that Egypt recently sentenced eight homosexuals to three years in prison for appearing in a same-sex wedding video. They were charged with inciting debauchery and offending public morality. Sounds very “welcoming.”

As for “Satan worshippers,” perhaps he is right!

Harqan argues that more would join him in leaving Islam, if only they had the freedom to think critically about religion and make their own choices. This comes from a former Muslim, living in a Muslim country. He can hardly be accused of “Islamophobia.”

Montrealer charged with terror offence was planning 'something big,' says Crown
By Brian Daly , QMI Agency
First posted: Monday, December 08, 2014 12:50 PM EST | Updated: Monday, December 08, 2014 03:50 PM EST
MONTREAL - A 36-year-old Montrealer was arraigned Monday on a terrorism charge for allegedly planning "something big," says the Crown.
The Crown opposed bail for Nejib Belhaj-Chtioui, a Tunisian-born Canadian and father of two.
A source familiar with the investigation told QMI Agency that police were tipped off to bomb-making blueprints that were posted to the Internet in 2011.
Police had obtained a warrant in August 2013 and notified Belhaj-Chtioui" that he would be arrested upon his return, says the source.
Police handcuffed him and took him off of a plane when it arrived from his native Tunisia at Montreal's Trudeau Airport on Sunday.
Crown attorney Lucie Martineau said the case involves "behaviour that would lead one to suspect terrorist activity."
"There are two charges regarding a reasonable apprehension that a terrorist activity could have occurred," she said. "The police officer had reasonable apprehensions that some things could occur and something big."
It wasn't immediately clear if the alleged target was in Canada or elsewhere.
When asked why she opposed bail, Martineau said, "because he was just at the airport. He wasn't in Canada for the past month."
Belhaj-Chtioui wore a winter coat and was expressionless Monday during the two-minute arraignment. His bail hearing is scheduled for Tuesday morning at the Montreal courthouse.
Provincial police Sgt. Audrey-Anne Bilodeau said the accused was known to travel frequently between Canada and Tunisia.
"I think he was living here and there," she said. "A few weeks or a few months in Montreal and a few weeks or a few months in Tunisia. I don't have any details if he was working for a group."
Bilodeau said she also didn't know if Belhaj-Chtioui was on any Canadian terrorist watch lists.
QMI Agency's television partner TVA spoke to an ex-girlfriend Monday who said Belhaj-Chtioui attended mosques but "isn't a radical."
"(Nejib) wasn't mean," said the woman, who didn't give her name.
"This man is a very good person. He wouldn't harm a fly. His arrest is a surprise."
Belhaj-Chtioui's ex-wife attended the arraignment and told reporters they have two children.
His Facebook profile says he was born in the Tunisian capital of Tunis, is a former Bell Canada employee and studied at the University of Quebec at Montreal.
Belhaj-Chtioui is the second Montrealer arrested on terrorism-related offences since last week.
A 15-year-old boy faces charges after authorities say he had planned to travel abroad to join jihadist fighters.
The teen allegedly robbed a convenience store "for the benefit, or at the direction, of a terrorist group.

Today was the day in which thousands of the town's Muslims marched through this area of the town to celebrate what appears to be Mohammed's birthday. It happens every year. Whole streets are closed off to vehicles, causing great inconvenience for many people. The route is marked by balloons affixed to lamp-posts. When the marching starts, a whole vast army of Muslims marches intimidatingly through the streets, shouting intimidatingly over loudspeakers, banging drums and waving placards written in unintelligible scribble (all the marchers, of course, are the menfolk. The females aren't allowed to take part). The parade goes down Settle Street right past my parents' house. Of course, guarding these Muslim marchers are virtually the whole of the entire Bolton squadron of the Greater Manchester Police Force. This is very strange, because a few years ago the Royal British Legion wanted to conduct a march through the town but were prevented from doing so by Bolton Council, who said the march couldn't take place they "couldn't afford to police it." This naturally caused a lot of anger. Someone wrote an angry letter to the Bolton News newspaper saying that they had sent a letter to Bolton Council asking them why, if they don't allow a march by the Royal British Legion because they can't afford to police it, they can somehow find the money to police the annual march through the town by Muslims. They explained that they have so far not received any reply at all from Bolton Council.

Muzzies marching through Bolton to celebrate the birth of Mohammed. They are usually accompanied by a vast army of cops, yet the Royal British Legion is prevented by the council from marching through the town because "we cannot afford to police it"

Bargain hunters say they have been left upset and angry after a video shot by a Matalan staff member appeared on the internet.

Shoppers piled into the Railway Street store in Dewsbury at 4.30am on Boxing Day unaware that someone was filming them on a mobile phone.

The video, which has appeared on WhatsApp, Facebook and Youtube, shows some slight pushing and shoving but otherwise people are well behaved.

Readers have contacted the Reporter Series saying many shoppers feel offended that they were being filmed without their knowledge.

One reader, who contacted us via the Upload a Story section on our website, said: “Many Asian Muslim people are really angry for recording them.

Deadly attack on office of French magazine Charlie Hebdo

BBC News
7 January 2015

At least two gunmen have attacked the Paris office of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, killing a number of people, French media report.

Witnesses spoke of sustained gunfire at the office as the attackers opened fire with Kalashnikov assault rifles.

The satirical weekly has courted controversy in the past with its depiction of news and current affairs.

Its latest tweet was a cartoon of the Islamic State militant group leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

At least 10 people were killed in a shooting at the Paris offices of Charlie Hebdo, a satirical newspaper firebombed in the past after publishing cartoons joking about Muslim leaders.

France Info radio also said police had confirmed a toll of 10 dead and five injured after masked gunmen with AK-47s raided the building.

Reuters had no immediate official confirmation of deaths.

The news channel quoted a witness as saying he saw the incident from a building nearby in the heart of the French capital.

Benoit Bringer, a journalist with Agence Premiere Ligne - who saw the attack - told the iTele network he saw several masked men armed with machine guns

'About half an hour ago two black-hooded men entered the building with Kalashnikovs (guns),' Benoit Bringer told the station.

'A few minutes later we heard lots of shots,' he said, adding that the men were then seen fleeing the building.

He said two officers arrived on bicycles, then - apparently unarmed - they left.

A police official, Luc Poignant, said he was aware of one journalist dead and several injured, including three police officers.

'It's carnage,' Poignant told BFM TV.

After the shooting, hundreds of comments were posted on the Charlie Hebdo Twitter page, with one user, David Rault, writing: 'A sad day for freedom of expression.'

A firebomb attack gutted the headquarters of Charlie Hebdo in November 2011 after it put an image of the Prophet Mohammad on its cover.

Islam Question and Answer

22809: Ruling on one who insults the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)

I heard on a tape that whoever insults the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) should be executed even if he shows that he has repented. Should he be killed as a hadd punishment or because of kufr? If his repentance is sincere, will Allaah forgive him or will he go to Hell and his repentance will be of no avail?

Praise be to Allaah. The answer to this question may be given by addressing the two following issues:
1 – The ruling on one who insults the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)
The scholars are unanimously agreed that a Muslim who insults the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) becomes a kaafir and an apostate who is to be executed. This consensus was narrated by more than one of the scholars, such as Imaam Ishaaq ibn Raahawayh, Ibn al-Mundhir, al-Qaadi ‘Iyaad, al-Khattaabi and others. Al-Saarim al-Maslool, 2/13-16
This ruling is indicated by the Qur’aan and Sunnah.
In the Qur’aan it says (interpretation of the meaning):
“The hypocrites fear lest a Soorah (chapter of the Qur’aan) should be revealed about them, showing them what is in their hearts. Say: ‘(Go ahead and) mock! But certainly Allaah will bring to light all that you fear.’
If you ask them (about this), they declare: ‘We were only talking idly and joking.’ Say: ‘Was it at Allaah, and His Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and His Messenger that you were mocking?’
Make no excuse; you disbelieved after you had believed”
[al-Tawbah 9:64-66]
This verse clearly states that mocking Allaah, His verses and His Messenger constitutes kufr, so that applies even more so to insulting. The verse also indicates that whoever belittles the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is also a kaafir, whether he was serious or joking.
With regard to the Sunnah, Abu Dawood (4362) narrated from ‘Ali that a Jewish woman used to insult the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and say bad things about him, so a man strangled her until she died, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) ruled that no blood money was due in this case.
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said in al-Saarim al-Maslool (1/162): This hadeeth is jayyid, and there is a corroborating report in the hadeeth of Ibn ‘Abbaas which we will quote below.
This hadeeth clearly indicates that it was permissible to kill that woman because she used to insult the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).
Abu Dawood (4361) narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas that a blind man had a freed concubine (umm walad) who used to insult the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and say bad things about him. He told her not to do that but she did not stop, and he rebuked her but she did not heed him. One night, when she started to say bad things about the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and insult him, he took a short sword or dagger, put it on her belly and pressed it and killed her. The following morning that was mentioned to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). He called the people together and said, “I adjure by Allah the man who has done this action and I adjure him by my right over him that he should stand up.” The blind man stood up and said, “O Messenger of Allaah, I am the one who did it; she used to insult you and say bad things about you. I forbade her, but she did not stop, and I rebuked her, but she did not give up her habit. I have two sons like pearls from her, and she was kind to me. Last night she began to insult you and say bad things about you. So I took a dagger, put it on her belly and pressed it till I killed her.” Thereupon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Bear witness, there is no blood money due for her.”
(Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 3655)
It seems that this woman was a kaafir, not a Muslim, for a Muslim could never do such an evil action. If she was a Muslim she would have become an apostate by this action, in which case it would not have been permissible for her master to keep her; in that case it would not have been good enough if he were to keep her and simply rebuke her.
Al-Nasaa’i narrated (4071) that Abu Barzah al-Aslami said: A man spoke harshly to Abu Bakr al-Siddeeq and I said, ‘Shall I kill him?’ He rebuked me and said, ‘That is not for anyone after the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) .’” (Saheeh al-Nasaa’i, 3795)
It may be noted from this that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) had the right to kill whoever insulted him and spoke harshly to him, and that included both Muslims and kaafirs.
The second issue is: if a person who insulted the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) repents, should his repentance be accepted or not?
The scholars are agreed that if such a person repents sincerely and regrets what he has done, this repentance will benefit him on the Day of Resurrection and Allaah will forgive him.
But they differed as to whether his repentance should be accepted in this world and whether that means he is no longer subject to the sentence of execution.
Maalik and Ahmad were of the view that it should not be accepted, and that he should be killed even if he has repented.
They quoted as evidence the Sunnah and proper understanding of the ahaadeeth:
In the Sunnah, Abu Dawood (2683) narrated that Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqaas said: “On the Day of the Conquest of Makkah, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) granted safety to the people except for four men and two women, and he named them, and Ibn Abi Sarh… As for Ibn Abi Sarh, he hid with ‘Uthmaan ibn ‘Affaan, and when the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) called the people to give their allegiance to him, he brought him to stand before the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). He said, “O Prophet of Allaah, accept the allegiance of ‘Abd-Allaah.” He raised his head and looked at him three times, refusing him, then he accepted his allegiance after the third time. Then he turned to his companions and said: “Was there not among you any smart man who could have got up and killed this person when he saw me refusing to give him my hand and accept his allegiance?” They said, “We do not know what is in your heart, O Messenger of Allaah. Why did you not gesture to us with your eyes?” He said, “It is not befitting for a Prophet to betray a person with a gesture of his eyes.”
(Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 2334)
This clearly indicates that in a case such as this apostate who had insulted the Prophet (S), it is not obligatory to accept his repentance, rather it is permissible to kill him even if he comes repentant.
‘Abd-Allaah ibn Sa’d was one of those who used to write down the Revelation, then he apostatized and claimed that he used to add whatever he wanted to the Revelation. This was a lie and a fabrication against the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and it was a kind of insult. Then he became Muslim again and was a good Muslim, may Allaah be pleased with him. Al-Saarim 115.
With regard to proper understanding of the ahaadeeth:
They said that insulting the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) has to do with two rights, the right of Allaah and the right of a human being. With regard to the right of Allaah, this is obvious, because it is casting aspersions upon His Message, His Book and His Religion. As for the right of a human being, this is also obvious, because it is like trying to slander the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) by this insult. In a case which involves both the rights of Allaah and the rights of a human being, the rights of the human beings are not dropped when the person repents, as in the case of the punishment for banditry, because if the bandit has killed someone, that means that he must be executed and crucified. But if he repents before he is caught, then the right of Allaah over him, that he should be executed and crucified, no longer applies, but the rights of other humans with regard to qisaas (retaliatory punishment) still stand. The same applies in this case. If the one who insulted the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) repents, then the rights of Allaah no longer apply, but there remains the right of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), which still stand despite his repentance.
If it is said, “Can we not forgive him, because during his lifetime the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forgave many of those who had insulted him and he did not execute them?” The answer is:
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sometimes chose to forgive those who had insulted him, and sometimes he ordered that they should be executed, if that served a greater purpose. But now his forgiveness is impossible because he is dead, so the execution of the one who insults him remains the right of Allaah, His Messenger and the believers, and the one who deserves to be executed cannot be let off, so the punishment must be carried out.
Al-Saarim al-Maslool, 2/438
Insulting the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is one of the worst of forbidden actions, and it constitutes kufr and apostasy from Islam, according to scholarly consensus, whether done seriously or in jest. The one who does that is to be executed even if he repents and whether he is a Muslim or a kaafir. If he repents sincerely and regrets what he has done, this repentance will benefit him on the Day of Resurrection and Allaah will forgive him.
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) wrote a valuable book on this matter, entitled al-Saarim al-Maslool ‘ala Shaatim al-Rasool which every believer should read, especially in these times when a lot of hypocrites and heretics dare to insult the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) because they see that the Muslims are careless and feel little protective jealousy towards their religion and their Prophet, and they do not implement the shar’i punishment which would deter these people and their ilk from committing this act of blatant kufr.
And Allaah knows best. May Allaah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and all his family and companions.
